The only question I had while doing my first was this comment....

End points require addresses. If 'Get from map' button doesn't give a proper address, just type it.

...I wondered if I could put...Corner of 8th and Avenue H street or some oddball type of address. One without numbers in other words.

Yes. Sounds perfectly good. Sometimes there are no numbers. In such cases, i think that a corner of two streets is a very good option as it's very accurate. The idea is that there would be at least some "short description of the route point" even if there's no street address with a house number.

I just didn't know if your program was looking for a numbered address like many do. So I didn't even try it. I had considered saying my starting point was at the intersection of Highway 287 and highway 59. Most other programs throw a fit trying to do something like that.

How about this idea?

Suggest a spot or short route in this thread and I'll add it to the site for you.

It's simple as this:
1) Locate your spot (or route endpoints) on Google maps, right click and select 'What's here' and copy the coordinates to your post.
2) Write a short description. Just something to describe the location or road (why it's worth seeing or riding).
3) Mention if the location is good for a) a coffee break or snack b) eating
4) Type of road surface? (approaching location or on route). Is it paved all the way? If not, describe in a bit more detail.

You can check here that it's not already listed on the site (note that the overview maps show only a rough overview of the routes for faster drawing - the exact route map can be opened from the cache details page).

Optional:
- By default, I'll mention that the place/route was recommended by -nicname- on www.motorcycleforum.com - if you don't want this, please mention it.
- Add a "condition of logging a find" if you like. E.g. ask visitors to comment on something, walk around to check something out... (please, don't require anything that costs money).
- You can add a link to a web page (for example, wikipedia, restaurant opening hours...)

I'll add a link to your spot/route in this thread when it's ready.

Here are some examples that are already on the site : Location: Elder Mill Covered Bridge (GA), Location: Rainbow pools (CA), Route: Carmel Valley - Greenfield, on G16 (CA), American Classic Motorcycle Museum (NC)

It's not too cold yet, so still quite a few people riding. Mid-late November is usually when it gets too cold.

I don't put my bike away until it snows.
Sounds like you have just a little warmer climate - or perhaps better riding gear :)

According to the weather forecasts we still have at least a few days before most riders start thinking it's too cold. It's interesting to see what happens this weekend. We are very close a milestone of 5000 find logs.

While chatting with my friends I realized that thinking about "complete rides" makes it unnecessary difficult to add new routes.

But that shouldn't be a problem because route caches are supposed to be short.

All you need is a section of road and a short description. Let the riders choose their own combination of roads and motocaches for a complete trip - they'll do it anyway :)

Here's one good example from a lady rider in California. Easy to add and easy to find: Idyllwild from I-10. Btw, she added this with her phone ;)

I Geocache with the Harley....

There are 2 of these in Texas, I've ridden them.

Hard to compete with 2.5 million Geocaches in the US.....
I like Geocaching too, it's fun! But it's also very different from motocaching.

Motocaching is about sharing roads and places that motorcyclists think are worth riding to (no actual hidden cache). You get up to date info about the condition of the road from the log comments, you don't need a GPS and so on...

By the way, in the beginning, there was two motocaches in my neighbourhood too but soon people added about 600 more

I just registered and will give it a try. Great idea! Thanks!
I like your first cache. Exactly like they are supposed to be.

Hope you can get some friends to add some roads and spots for you to "find". I made one route as an example. Of course, it's not a new road to you, but at least it can be an excuse to go for a ride

Now that it's getting warmer in the northern states, I hope there will be some open-minded motorcyclists to share some interesting spots and get motocaching going in the US too :)

I just came back from my first motocaching trip to Estonia and Latvia. There was eight of us and we visited 20+ places.

Here's one of the places: https://www.motocaching.net/en/cache/view/id6344 Definitely something that can't be found on any tourist map.

I wonder if one or two of those missiles was targeted at our country too.
