When is it too bad out to ride?

I saw a lot of people get antsy in their threads waiting for a nice day to ride before I came here. When is it nice enough out for you to take that ride? I couldn't wait to go crashing through the snow drifts on my bike, and even got in trouble many times for taking it down to the frozen pond not too far from our house.

The only thing that keeps me inside is the wind, in winter or summer, it doesn't matter. I hate ice in my face, and sand is just as bad. Its not like I-35 is blocked by a damn thing protecting your from either.

So it might seem nice out in every other way, 80 degrees, sunny, it doesn't matter. If it is gusting hard, then unless I am actually riding to get somewhere, a cruise is out. But I love to hit the road on a calm snowy day.

Its too bad to ride out, when you can no longer see the road or feel your legs. If just one is happening, then it is time for better pants, lights, or a face shield. Don't ride alone in weather where you will not be seen by the side of the road with your bike. Other than that, how big are your B2345ls?

I'll ride till it gets down to around 40. I hate wearing the layers and getting dressed or undressed at work, sucks for one reason. Rain I stay home. If it rains when i am riding I keep going. It is a daily happening in the summer here. Ice or snow would be out for me.

There was one day this winter when I decided I had better park the bike. It was when I had to stop and help push a car out of the way. He was stuck in the alley behind my house so I couldn't get out. Worst part was that once I got onto a main road they were perfectly clear, shoulda rode.

Snow that is sticking or packing, ice, lightning, strong gusty winds; time for a new plan, a detour, or a delay.

I just bought a NEPR motorcycle, just so I can ride 365 day a year!
I race off road, and we have a BLAST doing the winter series. I have studded tires I put on my KTM and we've been out in 0 temp weather. When the snow gets over 18" we don't ride, (it's hard to push through that much snow! I tape off one side of my radiator to get the bike warmer, really warm it up before we go out, wrap the carb in cloth when it really cold to keep it from icing, richen up the mixture, (2 smokers).
On the road, my 2 wheel bikes, (I run a '08 Kawi 650 KLR as a comute bike, plastic is cheaper than chrome to replace!).
I ride when there's no ice on the road, (black ice is a bitch),daylight when I run to work in the morning.
I don't care about the temp, if you dress right, (I don't have any electric clothing). I wear Carhart bib pants, a down vest and a leather jacket with a liner, ski gloves, (I have air deflectors on my hand gaurds), a full face helmet and cap, army boots.
It all depends on if you want to save gas or not.
I wouldn't even think about 2 wheels when there is ANY ice on the road, but now with this rig, I can run everyday.
It's my way at thumbing my nose at the gas company.
just my 2 cents worth

I don't ride when there's ice, snow or heavy rain.
It's only 4 miles to my office so cold really isn't an issue. Wind can be really tough even though I have a windshield. Or maybe I should say because I have a windshield. Headwinds or tailwinds aren't too bad but the crosswinds can get real interesting!!

Rain is no big deal except the time it takes to clean the bike later!

I just got my Dnepr running last night, so with a 2 wheel drive hack, a dual sport, and my wing, the only time you'll see this guy on 4 wheels is if I have my trailer attached to my wing!
I'll show those Gas company's

I ride 365 a year, we get very little ice down here (didn't any that stuck all day this year, and only for 2 days last year. If its raining i won't go for a cruise but if i need to get somewhere ill take the bike (gas being what it is now, 3.20 today). But it was said best earlier, ride your own ride, if you aren't comfortable then don't ride no matter what anybody says.
