I'm looking to get some riding gear (jacket, gloves, pant, helmet) anybody know any good local shops in South Orange County California? Or maybe some good websites with good deals or packages? I've been eyeballing some ICON stuff but they are a tad pricey. I'm willing to put up the money if its quality stuff, but do you guys recommend any alternative brands that might be better for the buck? Thanks!:71baldboy:

Honestly you are limiting yourself if you stick to one brand. Find that stuff that looks good, FITS RIGHT, and has ample protection. I have several brands and they all match and all fit very well. Icon is a good brand, first gear and feildsheer are good for their money and you could always up the price and go for alpinestars stuff.

Thanks for the link. I went to this site and bought all my gear there. They have the widest selection so far and the pricing is sweet! A lot of close out items. This is what I ended up with:

Icon Twenty Niner Gloves - Black
Yoshimura Course Jacket - Blue
AFX FX-90 Helmet - Multi Blue
Fieldsheer Street Pants - Black

All for $220

Plus I got a $40 gift check for any purchase next month, so I'm looking into getting some riding shoes.

No bad for starter gear.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Personally I wouldn't buy my gear online, at least unless I've already bought from that manufacturer before. It seems the sizing is strange for motorcycle gear (jackets at least) so you will need to try on the clothes before you buy to make sure it fits.

Newenough.com.

'Nuff said.

BTW, Newenough has awesome return policies. Doesn't fit? Return it for a different size or a refund, even on clearance items. Easy peazy.

Edit: Oh, and definitely buy your helmet locally.

I have the Scorpion hat trick jacket and I love it... The outer layer is mesh, but still protective with pads, and allows plenty of airflow when it's hot. It also has other layers for keeping out wind/water and a thermal layer. Looks good, protects me, and has a decent amount of storage, (two outside pockets, one or two inside, depending on layers)

Glad you bought gear. Everyone should ride with it. As for sites there are tons of them but before you buy them online try them out in local stores and even compare the prices. They might be a bit more expensive but you know what you get and also you support the place where you will go when you need help.

You're gonna love that Ogio backpack. They really build some superb stuff. I had them make me a custom bag a while back for my DSLR and a Laptop. Best packs Ive ever seen. Tough, very good looking, and super comfortable.
