after my 60 mile ride with buds on my 79 POS I have to vent.

1. I FUPKIN hate my HJC AC-11 that I spent $160 bucks on. the thing lets so much wind nois in it actualy made my head hurt. yea its pretty comfy but other than that it sucks. its got alot of cool looking vents on it! that dont work for ****. not to mention FOG,Fog FOG, and your neck willpay for any turbulance you hit I feel like its alot bigger than the others. I'm a frikin bobble head

2. I'm trying to get a new(used) bike. like a sv650 why is it that every tard in the world is willing to pay 500 over BB for evey single one of them.

3.why are tires so frikin expensive, why cant we get a 30,000 mile tire or even a 10,000. I just put some 75,000 on my car. I dont carve the **** out of the road and they still dont last.

:mad::mad::mad:
sorry I know half the stuff is rediculas but I had to vent. what is the bestbang for the buck helmet?

Don't use any helmet....they all suck. I wouldn't worry about tire mileage if you're fed up after a 60 mile run....you won't be running enuff to wear out a set of china tires. If you can afford 160 bucks for a lid....you can afford Dunlops. So just what's a '79 POS?

79 suzuki gs 425 woot woot! it's fun and I drive it all the time in town without a problem but I went out with some friends(harley and a gold wing) they like to do 70-80 on the highways man I could hardly stand it. it was like someone was stepping on my ears. it doesnt have a windshield and I knew i was going to get some wind but not pain. where can you buy these "china tires":D

wind noise

A windshield is the answer for wind noise at highway speeds. I had the same problem get a quick removal wind shield and use it for highway driving and remove it when your just cruising around town. Beleive me you will notice a big difference.
Also, remember it's not what you ride, it's that you ride.:)

Ride Safe and Have Fun:D

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I mean cmon, even if you absolutely hate them can't you at least deal with it for the sake of "maybe". I mean, those that do not wear or like them say it doesn't make a difference in an accident (which is been proven false many times). However, even if there is a chance, a slight chance (in their eyes), why would it kill you to wear one. On the contrary, it would kill not to wear one. To be quite honest, I even wear a helment when I am just bringing my bike around the back to the basement to work on it. Partly because my kids are always watching and I want to set a good example, but mainly because falling and hitting your head with that much weight under you, even from a standstill is not like simply falling while standing without a bike. Oh well, hey Pint, I'll go with you - since I am somewhat new I'd like to get some tools too! :)

Maico Shark: Yikes?! Okay, I'm definitely behind Mike and PintSlayer on this one! NO helmet?! Man, what are you thinking?! Seriously, freedom of His or Her Choice across the board far as Iโ€™m (still) concerned. BUT All Iโ€™m gonnaโ€™ say is โ€“ IS it worth it?! I had always wore a Helmet from day one โ€“ just did. BUT the one frigginโ€™ day I wasnโ€™t wearing a Helmet was the day (naturallyโ€ฆ) the A-Holes GOT me! I concede I got (then) caught up in the โ€˜Harley (frigginโ€™) Imageโ€™ that says (at least then?) you donโ€™t wear a helmet (Dec 6, 1981). I had a LOT of (bad) injuries then but among them were over a 1,000+ stitches to my face, and over 13 operations of Reconstructive Surgery to try and replace the Eyebrow (missing from my R/H side). How did the Plastic Surgeon DO it?! Heโ€™d take this โ€˜Drill Deviceโ€™ and take plugs from the side of my head (with hair) to form some kind of an eyebrow on my face. I wasnโ€™t sleeping peacefully for all this **** โ€“ I was wide awake! I was going in as an โ€˜Out-Patientโ€™. Iโ€™d excuse myself from my factory job โ€“ go get a session, then go back to work (with bandages on). I looked like some frigginโ€™ Klingon Warrior (back from battle!)! Right around 2-3 am in the morning after these sessions Iโ€™d be screaming in agony, with my poor dear sweet mother was trying to help me (but she couldnโ€™t). It was a very BAD accident. So bad that IF I had been wearing a helmet would the impact concentrated the force enough to snap my neck?! Iโ€™m saying most likely. If I had to do it all over again, would I of had a helmet ON?! Yes, I would โ€“ just to NOT go through that aftermath (which 27 years later) which still to date affects me now. Nuffโ€™ said.

To Everyone, WEAR a frigginโ€™ Helmet!!!!

LOL to the 79 POS. Yeah, a small bike at fast high way speeds w/o a windshield and an obnoxious helmet.... I can feel your pain.

I wear a full face Scorpion helmet and it's very quiet, though you do get some ventilation. You might try some one and see if they fit your head well.

As far as the SV, they are great, great bikes. They are in high demand right now because Suzuki is discontinuing them in favor of the GSXR line up; 2009 is the last model year for the US. I have an 06 SV 650S. They are worth $500 over BB, they are great bikes IMHO.

As others said -- get the shield -- big difference in noise. I remember when I got my first windshield -- hey, I can actually hear myself talk!

I haven't found a helmet with great ear protection so I wear earplugs -- adds to comfort on long highway rides but a pain in the butt to put on. They're especially a pain if they kind of slip out while on the highway -- then you see this guy (me) on this bike sticking his finger in his helmet trying desparately to get that earplug back in.

All this technology and you engineers cannot even make a quiet helmet! I've asked sales people -- racers wear earplugs even with the $500 helmet.

I'm not positive, but I suspect it's a product liability issue. If they put sound dampeners in, the first person that got splatted by a semi (or his surviving family members) would have a lawsuit filed saying he would have been able to hear the truck if only his hearing wasn't impeded.

Klingon Warrior!!!

Awesome. At least they didn't take hair plugs from your butt to make your new eyebrow. Could have ended up with a shitty outlook on life!

Yea, like the others, I'd recommend buying a windshield. I never rode with a windshield until this year and it is the difference between night and day. I still hear some wind turbulence through my full face helmet, but that would be easily solved with ear plugs if I chose to wear them. The windshield does mitigate almost all of the severe windblast at highway speeds from hitting the trunk of your body. Makes it much more comfortable to ride for longer distances.

The lack of mileage on tires is sort of a necessary evil. Motorcycles have fewer tires than cars so they need more grip. More grip from a rubber compound generally means less durability. All these hours of watching Formula 1 pay off sometimes!

As for the wind noise from helmets, I kind of like it. It makes me feel like I'm going really really fast.
