Check the fuel cap vent.

I just checked the vent and it seems to be functioning properly. Anything I should be looking for specifically?

 

It sounds strong like a fuel delivery issue.

1- If you have a inline filter it may be clogged. Verify it first
2- Check the fuel hose for routing, if it has a kink, it could slow down the fuel delivery.
3- Check your fuel cap, disassembly and clean it to prevent vacuum lock.
4- Drain your tank and disassembly the fuel petcock, it may be clogged with tank rust.

 

Hey. Thank you for your reply. These are all good suggestions. Will definitely check them out.
I still think it would be weird if fuel was the only problem as nothing happened at all when I pressed the starter button. It was completely dead.
What's your take on this?

Is the battery relatively healthy?

 

It should be healthy. It's been hooked up to a charger at the dealership during winter.
I've never had any problems during the 1 year I've had the bike. Does seem like the problem could be electrical though.

Making assumptions about the simple stuff can leave you chasing your tail for hours. Start with verifying the easy things first.

 

Ok, so I never really found out what the problem was. The motorcycle is now sold and as far as I know that problems hasn't occured since. Thanks for the help though
