I have a 84' yz80 I just bought for my kids, I couldnt get it started, the guy I bought it from said the carburetor need cleaned. I took the carburetor off the 80' yz80 I had (never have it had running since I bought it cause it needs parts) and it started right up. However gas started gushing big time out the exhaust. Any help on why or how I fix this?

Is the carb a slider type with a metering rod ? You might have to adjust the metering rod a notch or two. I forgot which way to adjust tho.

However, that rod allows the amount of gas entering the carb. I'd try two notches UP first. I think that lowers the rod into the carb, restricting the flow of gas.

I would say maybe there's a cylinder that isnt firing but I believe the yz80 is just a one cylinder and its running so that cant be it..

Yeah, it could be running a really rich air/fuel mixture and you'd have to adjust that in the carb.
