I have an 81 Honda Cm400e that wont start. When I hit the started button, my solenoid clicks. I so know my starter button and my solenoid are good, right? Dead battery is what your thinking, So i touch my starter cable to the battery and the bike starts right up. So I know my battery is good. What am i missing?

+1, check all connections and clean the main grounds.

Also, the actual contact bar within the solenoid can corrode and do exactly what you're describing. Sounds like the solenoid is working, but it's not making a good contact. Some can be carefully taken apart and cleaned. Otherwise replace it.

Do verify the other stuff first though - it's a pretty rare failure.
