The front brake advice is spot on. You may also want to have your brakes checked. If they are grabbing and locking on you it is a dangerous condition. What kind of bike are we talking about.

I originally wanted to see what was going on with the levers while he rode to try and figure this out, but honestly, the jerk in me realized there was an opportunity there.
