I bought my first bike in March. The engine has a total of 117 miles on it. The last time I rode it was about 2 months ago, when I dropped it trying to go uphill around a corner. It slid a bit but I was able to start it up. Then I ran out of gas. I filled the tank, drove it home and parked it.

Today when I went to go start it up, I couldn't get it to go. I turned the key and the lights came on. I put my kickstand up, popped it in neutral and pressed the ignition switch. It made all the startup sounds and you could hear/smell it burning a little gas, but then it died. I tried a few more times, giving it gas, getting it rolling, putting it in gear... but no matter what I did, every time it did the same thing. It doesn't seem to be a battery problem... does anybody have any ideas?

Is this a carbed or fuel injected motorcycle?

It's fuel-injected. It's a 2014 Yamaha VStar 250

Check the air filter to see if it full of oil from laying it down.

I'm guessing it's still under warranty, so if you don't get somewhere with it quickly, let the dealership fix it.

You could try cracking the throttle just a little. On my own fuel injected bike it can be a bit stubborn about starting with the throttle full off at idle but a very slight opening makes all the difference.
