I wear a full-face helmet.

Why? This is what happens when you hit a deer at 50 mph.

Back in Mi I looked at a dirtbike thinking it could probably be fixed and the frame was a sight to see. Dude hit a deer and spent 6 months in the hospital. The bike was junk.

As far as helmets go I've got and updated full face for my car and a half helmet laying around. I can't stand wearing them especially in a car so I don't push them but I won't knock anyone that prefers to wear them.

The radio just said its 115 outside right now. I'm thinking if you wear a full face you could stop and buy some goldfish to swim around in the sweat.

Better yet hit a Walmart and take your helmet off standing over the manager then stick it on his head. Hold please.

I like my Shoei GT-Air II. Large vents, internal sun shield, pinlock visor and quick release strap.

Full face because crashing (sucks) can hurt.

I wear this one from HJC.
I've been wearing this style of helmet for 54 years.
No full face helmets for me.
If I want to ride inside looking out the window, sweating, breathing my own breath,
I'll drive my pickup truck.

A couple lifetimes ago I was running my '72 BSA cafe' racer harder and harder on state-of-the-art Dunlop K-81s, Those wedge-shaped tires provided wonderful traction when you matched your lean angle to the angle of the tires' wide part. Turns out you can lean in more than that angle. Who-duh-thunk?

I would guess I was running around 50 mph when the bike disappeared out from under me. In slow-mo I remember the slide and "know" my helmet never touched pavement. Yet when reviewing equipment to resume riding many weeks later I found new scratches on my full-face Bell Star. Hmmmm ... how did these get here?

Yeah. I'm a fan of full face helmets.

I wear an Arai full face, a few reasons why:
  1. I'm ugly enough, no need to add more scars to my face.
  2. I ride a lot of interstate, and I get hit with all sorts of flying debris, rocks, chunks of tire, bolts, etc...better they hit my helmet than my face.
  3. It's super quiet at high speeds, and really comfortable even if I'm wearing it for 36 hours straight.
  4. I ride a lot at night, insects are everywhere, and contrary to popular opinion I really don't need the extra protein.
  5. I ride a lot in the winter, 80 mph in 20F for a while will really give you a nice appreciation for a full face.
  6. I can always open it up if I'm moving slowly and get the wind in my face.
  7. It has an external drop down dark visor, an internal one would void the Snell rating.
This is what works for me, others prefer a modular, a 3/4, a skid lid, or nothing at all, and that's fine by me, your head, your choice!

I bought a modular helmet off Amazon when I started riding again. I went to the city and tried on helmets in a big shop and couldn't find anything that fit. They were all just too tight right under the ear at the jaw and I can't tolerate pressure there. Took a chance on the online order, and it worked out. They even sent two different sizes of padding so I could remove/replace/adjust the liner to fit. I love that it has an integral sun visor so I don't have to mess with trying to get my sunglasses on in the helmet. The vents don't really seem to do anything, I do have to open the face shield if I'm sitting at a stop on a warm day but when I'm moving it's not too hot. I don't like the ratchet chin strap, I wish I could change it out for the old fashioned double D buckle.
The guy I bought my bike from threw in his half helmet so I wore that the first few times I took the bike out, but it just wasn't comfortable. It's a little too big, so it always felt like the wind was pulling it up against the chinstrap. Plus it only took one bumblebee to the cheekbone to remind me why I had a full face helmet when I rode 30 years ago.
My new helmet isn't fancy and has only DOT, not the other ratings that are supposedly better, according to my research. But I really searched long and hard before choosing this helmet and the others were just completely out of my price range, or had bad reviews. This one fits snugly and moves with me, yet doesn't annoy the pressure point on my jaw. Plus all the dead bugs on the face shield are there, and not on my face.

Only full-face helmets for me. Been down at track and seen others enough times to know to use as much protection as possible.

My riding is pretty laid back so I don't wear one.

No matter the style or rating of the helmet..... ANY helmet is better than having your skull as the first line of defense.

My nephew has a nice spiderweb on his forehead from getting rear ended so I won't knock anyone that want's to wear one and under certain conditions I'd wear one too.

I have a Z1R Jimmy Retro cause I like feeling the wind on my face. I'm kinda fond of the Bell Moto 3 for the facial protection while retaining the breeze, but it's comparatively expensive and bell doesn't let you take the stickers off, so I'm stuck advertising for Bell:

Somehow I am reminded of those 'kiss your ass goodbye" leathers that cover legs, front, but not butt cheeks. I puzzle over where that became a good idea.

But what about the deer?

But what about the deer?
Good question I never asked. It probably walked away like nothing happened and the bike looked like a banana
