Today I walked by my bike, manipulated the throttle a few times so hopefully the TPS will not go bad from the bike sitting too much...

You won’t be able to re-do the threads straight using the same size unit.
I believe the tool is for re-cutting / squaring up the seat only. At least that's what it looked like to me when I went to the link BAZININJA provided. TIME-SERT calls it a drain pan seat recondition cutter. I guess that means the sealing area for the drain plug..?

You don’t need to worry about TPMS, it’ll be fine. I trust you have the bike on a battery tender? Also, don’t forget to turn your fob off.

TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). I've replaced several that went bad from inactivity. ($$$). I kan't turn off my fob... I don't know what it is.
No tender. I do it the old fashion way... Plug in a charger from time to time.

I've never heard of TPS going bad from inactivity, I always thought that they wore out. What bike is that on? The fob is basically a remote control that is used to start keyless ignitions that some motorcycles have.

I haven't done anything with my bikes for a week now. I had a woodwork project that I was keen to finish, which I did last week. But somehow I've managed to acquire a painful soft tissue/tendon injury to my left thumb. Maybe a result of using power tools for several hours a day.

I tried to take the little CR for a spin yesterday, but couldn't pull the clutch. :(

Hopefully I can get some riding in early next week

Nothing special here, I decided to take the blue Vision today after riding the black one for the last week or so. I had a really windy ride into work today, it was a nice enough morning for December at 35F at 0300 but the wind was brutal, I'm guessing gusts over 30 mph, passing trucks was a bit of an adventure. Roads were still wet from yesterdays rain, I was glad it was above freezing so I didn't have to watch for ice patches.

That's the way I see it too, it will recut the seating area to match the threaded insert.
It should work.

Max, please help me understand here. You speak of “homelessness” but have a motorcycle, a 2022 dr650 as you state. You can’t afford a domicile but you speak of “other expensive helmets”, and have enough for gas to “go for a ride”. I would think a place to sleep and eat and warmth would be your 1st priorities. Am I missing something here?
Help me out.
I also see the original post I quoted was “deleted” but it remains for all posterity!
Still asking for some sort of explanation to help us all here understand your plight @maxpressure805

I spent 31 years in San Diego and am well aware of housing costs. That, taxes, illegals and overall immorality is why we left. That and the fact God said “we were done with Calif.”
I know there are people who rent rooms within a house that you could find for probably $600 mo.
The fact is, back in 2009 about 5 months before we left the local news did an expose which said “it takes a family of 4 CLEARING $70k a year to meet basic minimum needs in San Diego county.
Have you considered moving to a state which has a better economy, more open about God & Country and costs significantly less overall?
Perhaps you should seek God about that?
Just a suggestion.

If you got time for that , , fire it up for a minute or two .... Better than letting it just sit ....,

Lots of folks would disagree with that, myself included. Letting an engine run for just a few minutes occasionally is worse for it than just letting it sit.

I wholeheartly dis-agree . I have , and have had hundreds of bikes ,.... right now 15 ,.. I do not have battery , carb , or any problems from starting them every few days , even without riding them ..., Letting them sit creates more problems ..., You're entitled to your opinion , I get that , But I think you're wrong .... Bike owner since 1963 ... along with , snowmobiles , race cars , mowers , chainsaws , Ect....,

Sorry. Didn't mean my bike but different customer bikes. They'd bring in a bike that was running fine until they let it sit for long enough that it needed a carb clean. Then probably less than half of the time... I find a bad TPS. Just about every time the closed / near closed contacts inside the TPS are where the TPS shows bad with the ohm meter. I believe it's from corrosion on the contacts (from sitting in one position) so I try to keep corrosion away from mine by working the throttle a little daily.
My bike is a 2003 Yamaha FZ1. It has the original TPS from 2003. So Far...

Oh! A fob for the key... D'oh! . Silly me. I knew that...
