You lucky ... my nearest real track is the Utah Motorsports Complex, which is to me two moderate days of trailering car or truck down, three days lodging and two days trailering home. Far too much time and money for any sort of regular practice and joy.

Oh to have a nice motorhome, enclosed trailer and ton of disposable money... I'd be checking out all the great road courses in this country.
Yeah, I definitely am thankful because I would not be interested in overnight to get to a track. 15 miles is very nice!

Had a great day and ended up hanging with the owner of this beauty...

I would love to have that in my stable ... just as it appears to be - lovingly, carefully restored by someone who knew exactly what they were doing. That is very definitely not me.

If you don't have the skills, you better have the bucks. Also not me.

He bought it back in '06 from the second owner and told me all about rebuilding the top end and the quirks of the bike overall. Said he wants to get his racing license and take it to some vintage races. He was a little faster than me with 1/3 the hp and a terrible suspension. One of the few cases of a rider whose skill was above the bike's. I, on the other hand...

Oh, man, I have no idea! He said it makes about 50 hp at the engine but then he and one of the coaches started talking about other models and I kinda zoned out. I can appreciate vintage Beemers but they don't really pique my interest...

She stalled at 40 miles today. Is it normal for a ds to get speed wobbles at 80+? When i lock her up she drifts sideways. Normal?
I can only speak to my experience on my tiny 230 and it would get a shimmy at 65 or over. Nothing too bad and I think it was mostly due to the front tire. If everything on the bike is lined up the way it is supposed to be, I wouldn't think there should be wobbling at any speed. You might check tire tread and fork alignment...

When I've locked my rear, it always slides a little to one side or the other but speed, direction of travel, and lean angle are the determining factors there...

Figured it was about time to put the tall windscreen on for the season, but opted not to raise the mount yet. I also added a Sheldon sticker I found in Eureka Springs while shopping with Rogue , saving room for the Dragon sticker I either can't find or need to pick up next year. (y)

I also discovered that a mouse made its home in a tool chest drawer being reserved for all the nuts and bolts I need to get around to sorting that are still in the old tool box.

GREAT day to ride, in spite of gusty northwest winds! Temps were in the mid-60's and sunny! 🌞 Rode 157 miles just to take back my recyclables and try on a dress (Yes, I wear them once in a blue moon
:giggle: I know, I know, pics or it doesn't count:ROFLMAO:). I checked out a winter coat for my kid while I was at and picked up dill pickle peanuts for my father-in-law, so I did a little Christmas shopping, too. Good call on swapping windscreens yesterday: I wore my mesh jacket with one liner, a long sleeve shirt, the usual riding pants, long wool socks, my cool weather boots, and heated gloves that don't heat anymore, and, of course, my Arai FF and I was totally comfortable!(y)(y)(y)

Doesn't it get a bit chilly riding with a dress on?

Yammie got to ride in a trailer to the shop. Hopefully I will have her back in good running condition.

We had three beautiful days in a row here, and I managed to get in a ride on each and every one of 'em.
Friday I rode up to the local ham radio repeater site to help with some adjustments on the repeater. Not a long ride, but a nice one.
Saturday, I met up with my friend Steve and rode out to the Tractor and Engine show out in Bangor Pa, near where Mike721 and Candy used to live. It was busy there with all kinds of machinery on display, a tractor pull that was active all morning, and a big flea market with tons of tools, parts and junk. It was a perfect day for it, a little chilly when we left in the morning but it warmed up to about 72 by afternoon.
And today, Sunday, there was a car show at a car dealer not too far from here. Great turnout. All kinds of muscle cars, hot rods, exotics and a few that were just mind boggling. How about a '65 Chevy Nova, bought new in 65 by the man who still owns it 67 years later!! One owner in all that time!
Or a '60 Corvette, all original unrestored that still looks like the day it rolled off the showroom floor!!!
As a diehard British sports car nut, my favorite was a white MGB roadster that looked completely stock on the outside, but had a supercharged Mazda Miata engine under the hood! That thing must fly!

But the kicker was, I had parked my red '99 Goldwing among the cars on display. The bike seemed to draw almost as much attention as some of the cars! I spent quite a bit of time answering questions about it to people who were amazed at it's excellent condition after 23 years and 115,000 miles!!! Fun stuff!

Put on a little over 200 miles for the weekend. Not a lot but quality riding time.
It was a GOOD three days!

Is that bike balanced on the centerstand???
:saywhat:
Or is that a block on the far side helping to support it?

I had a busy weekend, as others have said it was beautiful weather.

Saturday was the IMRG club meeting at the Indian dealership, then we had a big group ride to mark the 1 year anniversary of the passing of Dan, our former president. Close to 30 bikes, a couple of cars, his whole family all came along. George the current President, Candy and I led the column, then the family in their truck, then the rest of the bikes brought up the rear. It looked great, I'm sure Dan approved. We rode about 1.5 hours all through central NJ, past his home, then to the cemetery. We had a brief service, planted the club flag on the grave as his widow requested ( she is still waiting for the headstone, it's "in shipping"), and shared a lot of memories. We then took a short ride to lunch, had some good times reminiscing, then split up and headed for home separately.

Sunday I led a small group of 4 on a Fall foliage appreciation ride through the Pocono mountains where the colors were at peak. A bunch of people originally wanted to go but everyone had some kind of conflict, or a broken motorcycle, or some other lame excuse and we ended up with just 4 instead of the 12 that had we had originally. But that was fine, we rode about 150 miles, the sky was blue, the leaves were beautiful, and we even got a rather rare chance to ride across the lower road at the F.E. Walter dam, the reservoir is nearly empty after the fall draw down that just was completed, that road is 30 feet under water in the spring. Some of the touristy spots were super busy, I have NEVER seen that many people in the small town of Jim Thorpe, they were lined up for blocks waiting to take the excursion train through the Lehigh Gorge.. leaf peeping season is in full swing!
We had a great stop for brunch at the Powerhouse Eatery and then a shorter 60 miles back towards home, we ended the ride at OWOWCOW a local ice craft cream shop for dessert.
