We've never seen a temp that high but, yeah, anything over low 90's and I'm out! Maybe if I had a swimming hole close by but otherwise, I'm staying put!
I'm with you, Doc. And based on what I just saw on the weather report, I won't be getting in a lot of riding for the next week and half. They are predicting mid 90s every day in what they called an extended heat wave.

Yesterday I got the bike out and rode up to Cassville, Missouri. Hadn't been there in a while and I needed to get some new shoes. I left just before 11:00 A.M. It was warm, but didn't feel too bad as long as I kept moving. Just north of Washburn, road construction. Bumps and groves. Slowed down and just let the bike move left and right as it wanted, within limits.

Did my shopping in a nice air conditioned store, and probably hung around a bit longer for that reason, then left. Darn it was hot! Couldn't get on the bike and get going quick enough. I'm sure the temperature had gone up some more. Finally got out of town and on the open road. It didn't feel much better. It felt like I was in a hot car with the heater on.

North of Washburn was new road construction, south of Washburn was nice smooth, extra black and hot new pavement. I hoped my new shoes weren't melting in the boot. Finally got home and parked in the shade, went in and had lunch. Then my wife hurt her back trying to carry some boxes out to the shop. Some muscle cream and back rubbing made it a lot better but will wait and see if a nights sleep helps. (She's still in bed.)

Then I needed to go pick up a prescription (again). Instead of wearing my modular helmet, I thought it might help if I wore my open face helmet. Well, maybe it was a little better, maybe. But I was already on my way to town when I realized I forgot my sunglasses. Decided to buy a cheap pair when I got to the store.

Had to make a second stop because the Walmart Neighborhood Market wanted between ten and thirteen dollars for a cheap pair of sunglasses! At the dollar store, $1.37 out the door. Made the ride home a little better but, darn it was still hot out. Could have took the car and had A/C, just didn't want to.

It rained here just before sunrise, but by 7 am the rain had stopped and the temperature was a very comfortable 70 degrees. So, I hopped on the Goldwing and headed for the big Ham Radio flea market (we call it a Hamfest) that's held every year about a half hour from here. Turned out to be a very nice morning ride and I got there just as they were opening the gates. I spent about 2 1/2 hours wandering around, renewing old friendships, looking the assortment of junk people were selling...and getting overheated as the sun came out.
I had come there mostly for the social aspect and wasn't planning on buying anything at all.
But, us usual, something caught my eye, and I wound up going home with a nice used laptop computer.
Now normally, this is not something I'd even consider buying used at a flea market. But the seller was a member of my ham radio club that I knew well, so I felt safe buying from him. I ended up with a nice HP Laptop with two hard drives, a fast processor, and a new battery and power adapter for $175.
You can't buy anything new for that price, especially anything like what I got, so I'm a happy camper.
My old laptop is just that, OLD! And it's on it's last legs. I use the laptop mostly when I travel as a place to upload my GoPro videos at the end of each day. This will suite my needs perfectly.
By 10:30 it was too hot for me, so I hopped back on the Goldwing and headed for home....via the scenic route. Got home about 11:30 am to the comfort of the air conditioning.
Ended up being a nice morning out. Not that many miles, but quality miles.

With grand intentions I headed out on Doctor Z to explore the near side of the Magruder Corridor. I got less than a mile into the gravel before deciding an intelligent person would turn around rather than gamble on controlling the fishtailing DRZ400s. Besides that, my butt was sore from sitting on that log Suzuki calls a seat. I have some changes to make.

There are a few hams here. I've missed the last 2 hamfests but you can indeed fined some good used stuff there.

I'd planned a ride for last Saturday, to ride some curvy roads to one of the decent restaurants I know of in eastern Ohio (hadn't decided yet which one). I gave a shout out earlier in the week on a meet-up-to-ride forum I'm on, and got one response. But Saturday morning dawned rainy and gray. The weather forecast made it appear that the rain would move out by mid-morning, so we decided to go ahead and ride. Trusting the forecast weather radar, I picked a route that would thread its way between the showers.

So we rode in rain for the first 20 minutes, but then as we rode southeast the rain stopped, the clouds lightened, and eventually some blue sky appeared. The rest of the ride was very nice, with temperatures about 75 degrees. All-in-all it was a nice 180 mile ride. About an hour after I got home, the rain returned.

Lucky you Roger. Both for getting the ride in and for getting some rain. Rain is much needed down this direction.

We got a little bit of rain Saturday, but yesterday it started raining about noon and rained steadily until about midnight. And it was just a good steady rain, the kind that really does the crops good. We've been needing that for a couple of months.

Nice video, Danno.
But 110F??? Screw that! I'd stay home in the airconditioning and wait for cooler days.
And for those who don't know, just where is Roosevelt Dam?
It's always good to mention where an attraction is located since not everyone is familiar with it.

Roosevelt Dam is just north-east of Phoenix AZ. Google Maps - Roosevelt Dam

I was born on equator, I'm used to heat actually. Did lots of bicycle racing in my younger days, so very familiar with staying hydrated. Did lots of trackdays and races in CA and most of those in summer are roughly same as AZ anyway.

Looks like the water level is a little low there to.? But not nearly as bad as lake Mead.
It's not too bad. Salt River is fed by tonne of smaller rivers & creeks from mountains north of Phoenix, which gets hundreds of inches of snowfall every year. This area is also largest irrigation project in North America created by natives who lived here in 600AD. Thousands of canals and creeks were created to collect water from mountains and feed farmlands. Many of these have been re-directed to feed Salt River.
