Dodged a bullet here today.
Weather report says that central and southern New Jersey are getting hammered by a major snow storm.
8 or more inches in some places.
Up here in the northwestern corner of the state, we usually get the worst of it.
Today we got NOTHING!!!
Thank you, God!!
This was a weird storm track, not a flake down where I live in NE Pennsylvania either but 50 miles south in Philadelphia they got plenty and 200 miles south Virginia got over a foot.
Here it's just cold ( 18F) and dry! It's a nice morning, I would have ridden to work today but I had a tooth pulled yesterday and my jaw is swollen and hurts, I briefly looked at my helmet and then decided to take the car.
I think out luck may run out Friday though... ❄⛄

18 degrees?? It was 12F here when I got up.
Now it's up to a balmy 16!
You better check your thermometer again, Mike!
The good part is....SUNSHINE!!! Blessed sunshine!
I haven't seen the sun here in weeks. It was really
getting me down.

Thats because you are up in the frozen skylands! Ever since I moved down onto flatland I have been surprised how much warmer it is, it's amazing how much difference 1000 feet of elevation makes.

We got 11", my sister 50 miles west in Frederick nothing. South of us got hammered, look what happened/is happening on I95 in Virginia. They are hoping to have it open for Wed morning rush hour.

We may or may not get anything this week. It has gone from 3-6" to freezing rain and back. I finally got both cars and the truck dug out and the driveway clean. I am getting to old for this Sh!t.

Freezing rain over much of New Jersey today.
Two dead. HUNDREDS of accidents, including a 30 car pileup in central NJ.
and a school bus overturned.
What is wrong with people that they won't just stay home when the weather
turns bad like this?

Thats crazy. I dont have any experience with driving conditions like that here in the sub-tropics. But I've always said that people in this country are getting dumber and dumber.

It was nasty out there, I was ( driving, not riding) and went in later than usual and timed it just wrong! At my house it was cold and dry, 60 miles away at the airport it was warm and wet, the transition between them was freezing rain and sleet around 0530 when I was passing through it and I was in our front wheel drive Kia and not my AWD Subaru.
I counted about 10 pretty serious accidents in a 5 mile stretch, I slid a few times but due to my legendary clutch/brake/throttle skills :) and a good measure of dumb luck I slid my way into work safely.
I was just glad I checked the weather, it was so nice at home with stars out I considered riding to work, now that would have been a wild ride for sure.

Did a half day ride to the Peace River swamp area northeast of Fort Meade today. Really nice day, temps were in the upper 70's and clear skies. While walking along the bank of the river (heavy brush), I stumbled upon and startled a gator, who in turn startled the hell out of me when he jumped up and splashed into the river. He was resting on the bank sunning himself.

I too looked at mine in the garage, covered up, away from the winter cold. Its about -30 Celsius outside today. I also had a look at the battery maintainers to make sure they're all working. I have one on my bike, one on the boy's bike, and one on the trailer's batteries. I'm looking forward to spring but we haven't even had the snowmobiles out yet. The plan is to get out this weekend. It's supposed to warm up to about -25 for Saturday.

16 degrees this morning. Seems that temperature last year and we had major power problems. I guess the warmer day temperatures is keeping the grid working this year. But it’s brutal out there with the wind.

Tore my little FA50 rear end apart to replace the final drive seal , which is the last thing to come out .
I had what i thought was the correct seal , according to the factory parts fiche . Turns out the fiche contains a bit of wrong information . The seal I bought is 37mm OD . The seal I removed from the case is 33mm OD .

So , there goes a weeks worth of wait .
Fortunately , kind of , I have the carb to go through ( something I do every couple years to clean the residue from ethanol ) and I have the top end of the motor to clean up and either simply replace rings or the piston and rings ( haven't taken that apart yet ) .

Sell snowmobiles, buy motorcycles, thanks to global warming they have a way longer riding season.
