Not today, but last Wednesday (I'm running behind on everything--my Christmas cards are finally going out tomorrow.. :giggle:) : FIXED!!!!!!!! View attachment 77622
Rode another 75 miles or so after leaving the shop, and NO LEAKS!!!!! They opted to drill out and replace the original one so I get to return the extra repair tool I had bought. I should have around $300 in the repair, which is far better than the $600 oil pan the first shop wanted. I'm just thrilled to have found a shop that would fix it the way I wanted it fixed, and I consider it an upgrade over the original so I feel less unhappy about having to deal with it for a month.

Might ride tomorrow if it's not too cold and cloudy, then we've got a nasty storm and dangerously cold winds coming in. Supposed to be in the 50's when I get home after Christmas from the tundra!(y)(y)(y)
So we can't call you a drip anymore????? :D:D:D 26º this morning here and still dropping, so riding today might be questionable until very late in the day.

Just riding to work as usual, today was nice, 27f, dry and clear at 0340, and going up to 50f later! Much better than yesterday, it was warm but wet yesterday morning, made a mess of my bike. I wiped the windshield off this morning so I could see through it but I really need a nice warm day when I’m home early enough to give the poor thing a bath..

When I lived in California I often had to ride in fog making me to have to wipe the whole bike down. Some days you’d think I rode the thing through mud.

I know exactly what you mean. San Diego you have “May gray” and “June Gloom” which is foggy every day.
It seemed much longer or more often where I was further north in the Hollister/Gilroy area. Monterey Bay seemed to funnel right into highway 25 which I traveled daily.

Weird weather on the ride into work this morning. I checked temp, it was 58F at both my house and work, really warm, a bit damp at my house but nothing unusual and radar was clear, it sounded like great riding weather so I rolled out without my heated gear.
It was a good ride but the weather was quite different from what I was expecting...the temperature oscillated wildly between 59F and 39F, with no regard for altitude or terrain, this was totally different from what I usually see. The first time it dropped below 40F I was only about 2 miles away and was starting to question my leaving the heated gear home...but then it warmed up again. This repeated probably 10 times, and each time it got warm it got wet, wet but not raining, the sky was clear, stars were out, and it wasn't even foggy. What happened each time was the warm, moist air was condensing moisture on every cold surface, the road was as wet as if it was raining, my windshield was dripping and opaque, so was my visor, the cars were soaked and throwing water off the wet road, my clothes got damp but not soaked.
Definitely odd weather, but compared to 7 days ago it's a big improvement, last Friday night was around -2, this is just fine
I used to run into pockets like that in California. It’s normal with hills and valleys but odd in the flats but it happens none the less.

I love to look through old cemeteries and riding for the PGR gives me that opportunity at times. Might be some Civil War veterans there. Did you check it out?

Replaced my battery which died outta nowhere on this hot Florida afternoon
They don't last forever and heat does do a number on them. How old was the battery anyway and did you keep it on a battery maintainer when not riding the bike? Just curious.

I wonder who makes the Big Crank, there aren't many USA battery factories, one of the biggest is 25 miles from where I live, East Penn mfg. and they make Deka and others that are sold as private brands.
From what I saw a few years ago Big Crank and Deka were one in the same. Big Crank is probably Monday and Friday batteries. 🙄😁🤣

Has anyone ever tried a lithium battery in their bike?
I’ve not tried one and the only negative I’ve read was when they die they do it rather suddenly with little warning. Don’t know if that’s a fact or just one person’s opinion of them after having one leave him stranded.

You might find this interesting when it comes to lithium batteries.

My Indian is made in the USA at Spirit Lake. But parts come from all kinds of other places before being assembled at Spirit Lake.
