I hear ya man. The weather really sucks here and up where you are in Massachusetts. Those who live in warm climates and where the sun seems to always shine have no idea of the pain we suffer with this typical Northeastern screwed up weather... :frown:

Went up to about 38 degrees and the sun was out for awhile. I was thinking about trying to get a ride in since it has been almost 2 months without riding at all. Before I could act on the thought the sun went in, the snow started and the temps began to drop. I really hate Illinois.

The weather is very crazy. It got up to 68º today and this is supposed to be winter. The 10 day outlook says more of the same. And we need moisture!!! Any kind.:(

Sorry man but you made me laugh because that is the exact kind of **** that happens here every damn day. One day of sunshine is truly a gift around here.

Shoot, I love it when my wife leaves. The house gets cleaner. She does not clean up after herself. I have to live with it until she can't stand it and then it's white tornado time. Heck, I do the dishes because when she's done cooking, she's done. Nothing but a big mess until I get in there a do it.

Took the Bonnie out for a short ride to see how the new rear tire felt. I just had this mounted yesterday. The Metzeler Lasertec (OEM) tires have been pretty good but I have been a little disappointed at how quick the rear wears, and they're not made for gravel or dirt riding. My rear had flattened in the middle pretty badly; so much so there was almost no tread left in the center while the tread was almost like new on the sides. Thanks Florida riding! I am trying this Pirelli Scorpion Trail on the rear which is designed for 90% or so onroad and 10% dirt/gravel. The tread looks pretty beefy compared to the Metzelers, but time will tell if they wear any better. I was impressed so far, though, with the feel of this new rubber, althoug I took it pretty easy as these were just the first few miles.

This picture also shows the new location of the caliper. Stock is pretty vulnerable in front and below the swingarm. This ought to be much better.

Cheers,

Mike

I'd like to hear your results after about 5K. I have found that the best handling street tire you can get on the Triumph Classics, or any other vintage ride, are the Avon Roadriders. They hold up pretty well but they are a softer compound. They do well at significant lean angles and aggressive on-gas corner exits.

I'll let you know. I have a couple thousand mile ride coming up in June (Florida to Michigan, about a week) to test them and some shorter ones before then.

I've read some good things on the Road Riders and some not so good. I did not get the explanation on why one person had a bad experience with them. Bike Bandit's reviews on the Pirellis are great on the handling aspect but not much said about longevity. The tread is certainly much more beefy than the Lasertecs'. I went back and forth on a few options but settle don the Pirellis because I wanted something better for gravel and the rear is radial, as is the Lasertec rear.

I post back after some miles.

Cheers,

Mike

Took a picture, I really like it w/o the Tour Pak. It sure handles better with all of that top weight gone. It's supposed to be in the 60's this weekend, it's all cleaned up and ready to roll. :icon_cool:

JR - you rode in yesterday? How far is your commute? Were the roads clear in NVA? We still have patches of ice here
