Me and my lady went for a nice ride on the Street Glide to a nice restaurant in Evansville, Ind. It has been a beautiful day.

Well, after having the rain cancel my trip this morning, the sun came out after lunch.
So, I got the Goldwing out and hit the road for a ride to nowhere in particular.
After a stop to see a friend, I wandered off to the northwest to begin a big 60 mile loop around some of New Jersey's prettiest country roads in Sussex County.
It wasn't much, but at least I got my fix for the day.
Test rode a Vulcan S, I need/want a work bike. It's not bad for a 650, would do everything I would need for a 40 mile a day bike.

Tried the ABS version, not for me! I'll go with the non abs if I get one.
I rode past a Harley dealership with a bunch of nobody's becoming the new victims to the worst bike ever made.

Dianne you are a good friend.

Got it blessed, and FINALLY got it home.

Also, incidentally, got to go to my first rally. The Blessing of the Bikes.

And THIS happened!

Awww, what a little cutie!! Too bad it will grow up in captivity. Not condemning, only thinking out loud. It really is neat to see the wilder animals up close but I've seen some older ones that break my heart.
Hello all, I'm new to the forum and kinda new with bikes. I owned a kawasaki eliminater 125 for about a year as my starting out bike. It got my hooked and was really fun. I got decent get up and it would top out at 72mph down hill. Very fun on the interstate lol. Now I have recently purchased a honda spirit 1100 and was curious on if ya'll thought of the spirits as a starter bike too. I'm a pretty small guy and the power difference between the spirit and the eliminator is no question. But what do ya'll think about riding the spirit long distance on interstates and hwys? Do ya'll think it could handle going 80+mphs on the interstate or a decent ride or is it more like another stepping stone bike. After purchasing it and noticing how these spirits are the most affordable bikes out here had me second thinking. Thanks for any input. I can read this forum all day lol
The 1100 will go 80 mph until the cows come home!
I wouldn't necessarily think of the Honda Shadow 1100 as a beginner bike. It should be fine for riding on interstates and highways if you are up to it, yourself.

What year model do you have?

It's a 2004 vt1100, and I love it. I've gotten it up to 85mphs and it was riding smooth, but it kinda sounded like it was putting a bit of strain I the motor. It is probably me being over cautious for what I'm calling my first "real" bike.

Since it was still nice this evening, I changed out the instrument cluster on bike, the odometer was getting hard to read in the daylight (it was turning orange and hard to see in the light)

so I found one on ebay off a crashed bike, bought it (for a lot less than a new one :D) and it showed up today, and now it's on....of course now my bike says it has 19,380 miles more than it actually does...

Now you have photographic proof of how many miles you rode in 2 hours though. Pretty impressive wouldn't you say.:D
Nothing this week ... the bike is in the shop. Did a 200+ mile loop south of Houston and pulled in for gas and it never started again.

Luckily its under warranty and it took them a few days to figure out the problem -- turn signal module went out. They said it does a lot more than control turn signals. Called them up Friday and they said it'd be done on Saturday. By 2PM Saturday after driving to work and back home seeing dozens of bikes I was getting that itchy feeling and called them up.

Now there is a speed sensor down in the transmission that is out and it'll be next week before its done. *Sigh*
Man that hurts. Especially getting hopes up just to have them whizzed on.

Eh, I don't know the circumstances to them having a bear. I'd like to think it'll be released into the wild at some point, but who knows?
No bets! I am moving and changing my name!
Come out to the DC-area, so you can work on MY Shadow!

That's sad news for sure, yet people want more electronic gadgets on bikes, like ABS and electronic sensors to steer the bike away from trouble.
Removed the windshield. The bike goes in Tuesday for tires, fork rebuild, and steering head bearings.

Hopefully, the sciatica in my back is cleared up by the end of the week and I can get to the Slimy Crud Run next sunday
