Oh I'm not getting rid of this one, just looking to get something I have been lusting after since the 60's, but more than likely a newer version. The one yesterday was the 10th I have looked at in the last 2 years.
What did you do with your bike today?

Adjusted my headlight tonight. It came with the beam too high from the factory. Took me a few rounds of adjustment with test rides in the neighborhood to get it right, then I did a four mile loop just to make sure it is exactly where I want it.
Just had my initial 600 mile service on Saturday. No longer restricted to "break in" RPM.

This is actually a report on Wednesday-Saturday, it's been busy...
Wednesday - Thursday the weather looked great so played I hooky from work :biggrin: . My wife gets the whole summer off, she's a bad influence on me!
We got up early and rode 120 miles to Hershey Park on a planned winding trip on back roads, got gloriously lost on some beautiful roads in 'middleofnowherePennsylvania", gave up eventually and took the Interstate the last 40 miles and finally got there around noon
We spent the day at the amusement park, stayed over, then rode home on a different route, back roads again and this time I actually found my way home! We were well ahead of a big storm that we knew was coming but then got hungry about 40 miles from home and stopped for lunch....and rode the last 40 miles in pouring rain..we got soaked but it was warm and daylight on familiar roads so it was actually a lot of fun, until I looked at all the crud on the bikes!
We spent all morning Saturday washing the mud off and waxing and polishing, I guess that's the price paid for all the fun riding in the rain
Saturday wasn't supposed to be a riding day, we had a family birthday party to attend but it turns out that a couple of my daughter's friends are track racers and since they weren't racing and needed a bike fix they all brought their dirt bikes to the party, I jumped on my daughter's XR 100 and went ripping around their yard chasing the racers in the gravel and wet grass..fun!
Life is good!

The Rocket and I went for an 80 mile ride Saturday after a Prayer Breakfast that I attended. It was 60 degrees when I left home---wonderful!
I'm leaving in a few minutes for my regular Monday morning ride and I'm thinking of doing some curving roads in NW Arkansas, about 60 miles south of home.
I like this Triumph Rocket 3 Roadster the more I ride it!

Kawasaki and Yamaha have 600 mile first service but the break-in mileage is 1000.

Did about 200 miles today. Rode down to the Maine Mall. Avoided the interstate like the plague today. Took 201 down to Rt. 1 into South Portland. Was a good day for riding, if you do not mind gusty winds lol. (The winds off the ocean when I got down that far was pretty strong today)

Finally had to use 'reserve'. Was going to look at a job a few miles away and knew I was low on gas. Figured it was a good time to find out. Main ran out on the way back, about 6 miles from the gas station. Switched over losing less than 5 mph and headed for the pumps. Right at 146 miles.
Last week I hit the pumps at 150 miles so I must have been right on the edge then.
At least finding out for sure removes the apprehension.

Spent a part of the day trying to get the throttle in the '67 Honda Dream to move smoothly and return to idle when the grip is released - didn't happen - not sure why - but did get it to close to a reliable idle position. There just seems to be too much friction in the twist-grip.
Lost a tiny steel ball from the signal light switch when it came apart unexpectedly - had an inexperienced helper who 'bumped' the switch lever while working on the grip. I have a spare hand grip so I will have to steal the ball from it (when I am alone in the shop LOL!)
Spent a LOT of time fiddling with the fuel valve and had to pull the tank for the 100th time! The replacement rubber pieces I got for it swells in contact with gasoline and the valve becomes unmovable! :frown: Dressed the rubber piece down a bit on glass with sandpaper and it seemed better now - works without leaking.
Also found an electrical problem - battery + post shorting on side cover - and fabricated a battery hold-down strap to fix that.
The bike is coming right along! It starts easily and reliably every time now.
Need to fix the signal lamp switch and replace an oil seal on the crank shaft before a "show & shine" on Sunday.

When a small part takes off for places unknown in my shop, I've had good luck (after more time searching on my knees than I care to admit) by sweeping the floor and then putting a magnet to the pile of sweepings. I'll also run a magnet behind and under stuff and luck out finding a tiny part once in a while.

Got two ready to go to a show on Sunday; a 1962 Honda 50 and the 1967 Honda Dream.Put a pair of Emgo mufflers on the Dream this morning - they sound GOOD!

I played hooky from work and we had a great day, my wife and I rode about 60 miles from Bangor, PA on rt 611 and rt 32 to New Hope, PA, walked around and checked out all the cool shops, ate a great lunch, walked over the bridge to Lambertville, NJ. We strolled around for a while, then walked back over the river and bought chocolate for dessert, then rode home to a nice dinner cooked by her daughter.
This is a nice ride for anyone in the area, all small, twisty roads, shady and cool along the Delaware river, the perfect run on a hot August day.
I need to stay home from work more often.

When a small part drops and seemingly disappears without a trace what really happens is that it hits the ground so hard it often bounces about 15 minutes into the future, you can look everywhere but until that time has elapsed you won't be able to find it, it's really not there yet.

Today ? Went out to my bike, looked out across the Zuni mountains amazed at how getting 5x our normal annual rainfall already has transformed this desert - that the whole range is green and thriving instead of parched and desolate. Then checked the air in my tires and rode the bike to work.
This range usually looks like dust and the cliffs a chalky looking dried out white.

The mufflers look like an OEM style from that era. Well done.I AM! Ignoring yard work to work on bikes
