Me and my lady went for a nice ride on the Street Glide to a nice restaurant in Evansville, Ind. It has been a beautiful day.

What did I do with it? Ummmm....nuthin'!

It's been in the shop for over a month or more. Indy wrench is almost done getting her road-ready. This has taken him a long time to secure parts for the carbs, fuel lines, cables, etc. Carbs had to be cleaned and rebuilt, full service and all fluids changed, brakes flushed, etc. Sourced some small parts from Italy too. BUT, he called me last week, and my spicy Italian babe is about ready to come home to daddy! $600.00 + taxes for parts and labor. This guy is very reasonable. Think I'll keep him! I'm planning on riding the bike to a local show and shine and see how she does. :)

Oldwinger, that bike of yours is my FAVORITE older bike and I like everything about it and it was a fantastic performer and sold well:grin:

Pray tell, where did you find it???

Sam:nerd:
Thanks, Porky.

Believe it or not...ebay! A guy named Alan Wilzig (rich dude in NY) has a huge indoor collection of vintage cars and bikes, also owns his own race track, and decided to sell a few of his bikes. I bought the cheapest one. Funny though, after selling mine, he stopped selling any of his bikes. Maybe seller's remorse? He's a character though, and great guy. Google Alan Wilzig. He's even on Wikipedia. Pretty fascinating man.
Cheers!

The Goldwing departed with its left saddlebag on Easter. I rode 100 some miles and I never found it, so I'm not exactly sure what happened to it. I've never used the left bag before so I'm not sure how well the previous owner mounted it. When I stopped at my parents' place I hacked off the right bag.

Despite the lower practicality of not having any storage, I actually like the bag-less look!

Cool Goldwing! I had a naked one too, in the late 90's. I think it was a 1976 or '77. All stock with 90K miles on it, and toured the Western U.S. with her. Got many looks. Loved the sound of it too 70 MPH tops in the high desert with the carbs though. Hope you can sync those carbs yourself. Ssssssspensive! :)

I always reset my trip meter when I fill up, so I have some idea of how much gas I have.
Now that I have my very first Sportster, I realize how that fuel gauge works. :) 3 1/2 gallons @ 42mpg...and I always re-fill at 1/2 tank.
Won me a motorcycle picture challenge, that's what I did! (Jumps up and down). :)

I am going to ride today (3-20-21 Sat) come "Hell or high water!"

I know the High water is everywhere but I can do without the 'HELL' part.

Currently @ 7:24 AM, the skies are sorta/ kinda a hazy blue. and the temp is 35 D. with a wind chill factor of 32 D. The high is predicted to be almost 65 Degrees!

This will be a good FIRST TEST of the Spyder's heated Grips and Seat!

Riding report to follow.

Have a wonderful weekend my Friends!

Same back at ya' Porky!

Oh, and did a static warm up with my bike today. And finished up an irrigation project. The end. Boooooring!
Sunny and 60 F today! Rode my bike out of the driveway, turned my right turn signal on as I approached the stop sign, and ran my bike into the shallow ditch to the right. Almost lost it. My throttle is so sensitive and easy that if the bike is under power and I move my thumb to the left to depress the switch, sometimes I accidentally pull just a hair on the throttle, and wants to bolt like a stallion! That XL1200 is a rocket to me...still getting used to it after all the cruisers I've had. Gonna look to see if there might be a throttle adjustment on the bike to make it tighter. I was going pretty slow. If I would have fallen, it would have looked liked Tim Conway tipping his tricycle over.

No worries, work on your clutch control, that's what you are missing. Bike won't go nowhere scary if you pull that it it will just make lots of noise ;)

and stay on the pegs
Very true!
Rode into work today, 34F? What the heck happened to Spring?
Still a nice morning, but chilly!

You've got me beat! When I was in Montana, I took my Harley in for service in the early Spring...45 minute ride @ 35F. Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you are one. :)
I rode to the end of my driveway and parked on the street for the blooming tree pics. Go for it.
Hey Critter...No more 666. You may relax now and call of the exorcist. :)

Ouch! Below the belt broo.
I need to refer to my dictionary. "Acolyte"...never heard of it or used it before. Now "electrolyte", that I know of, as I do Pedialyte and Geritol.
Since we were talking deities , Beelzebub, and father Karras, it's now time for something completely different, concerning the great and acephalic leader, Marshall Applewhite, and his latest transmission from the Heaven's Gate alien craft:

"Beware the sinful soul. "The Book of Traninit", initially found on parchment buried behind the Rosetta Stone, and as translated by professor Ned Stebner, III in 1952, has a passage which may interest you: "Speak not the utterings of the emerging pupae, as the warmth of maternal time zero will annihilate his whom lips are wonton of nectar thoust borne of the yellow lake. Beware the abyss of resentful and flippant remorse, for the son of Howard Gibson will cast spiritual enslavement around thee, and escape shall be unresolved. Scorned be the man who extinguishes the flames of flatulence and thine methane of the patent bung, for he shall be chastised and soul be enslaved, and all shall seith in pride of proper parlance that thou be a sinner in the eyes of Traninit The Divine, for he has stifled the eternal methane flame of the sacred bung, but alas, with lifelong repentance and utter remorse, may be forgiveth, as thou has spared a perfectly clean change of underpants."

OK, time to get off this computer and mow my lawn. :)

Everything is wide open here in Georgia. Has been for a while. Love living in a non-democrat state.
Now THAT's definitely hitting below the belt. Way to rub it in. How 'bout we send Seattle your way. Don't you need your own Georgia CHOP or CHAZ? :)
Put a different type of air filter on today. Took a while to adapt the base to SU carb.

Did a 20 mile jaunt on my XR1200 today. Partly sunny and 55 degrees. Finally getting used to that spunky little thing. Lots of fun, but I don't last all that long on it though with the slightly forward position. The most comfy bike I ever rode was my 2000 FLSTS Heritage softail springer. Could ride that beast all day and into the evening. Maybe time for a switch already?
It used to be. Got pulled over in Key West and the cop grilled me about it. Said it couldn't be removeable. I rode it home and welded it in.
I'm also fond of the single blade knife which fits into the belt. My belt has an enormous brass buckle. Not as effective as a dagger though.
Raining, so just warmed up the Harley for awhile. Been a week or so since.
Took it off cycle trader. Gonna keep it since I finally found a much quieter exhaust system, and it wasn't easy! Found a 2 into 2 stainless Supertrapp exhaust...has the disks in the muffler. Much more mellow than the freaking Bassani I have now. Should get them in 5 working days. Had to go to a (reputable) .com parts dealer. The factory said it would take 12 weeks and almost $500. more. Anyone who's interested in super clean and loud Bassani for their XR1200 will get a good deal when I sell them.
