Well none of tthe dealerships I've visited ATTEMPTiing to purchase a new Yamaha S-Max have come out and said it, but they might as well have.

FunCenter, Handlebar, Sun Country, RideNow.... not one of the salesmen I spoke with even knew what an Smax was, or that it was part of tthe 2015 Yamaha lineup..

They don't order or stock scooters, clearly do'nt know how to sell them, and best I can tell its strictly that Suzuki FORCES their ddealers to accept a certain number of Burgmans.

No wonder Vespa enthusiasts love their dealerss so much. They don't sell motorcycles.

FWIW it looks like I will have to make a ttrip to thee West Coast to even FIND an Smax available for sale.. Is it any wonder used bike sales eclipse new with that sort of scarcity and nonsense, and lack of sales training.

Scooter

If you had visited the store where I worked in 1971, you could have looked at, Triumph, Moto Guzzi, BMW, Honda, Vespa, and a fine selection of bicycles. I did not sell the bicycles.
I would have been pleased to show you a 175 Vespa, the biggest they made at the time.
I also had a very cute parts and accessories girl behind the counter, the first I know of in the bike business.

Things have changed a lot since late 60's early 70's when I first started to Lurk around Cycle Dealers .. Had 3 or 4 in Tampa at that Time HD was stand alone then as it is for the most part now, but were lucky if saw 2 New models sitting on the Floor .. Usually 1 Sportster and 1 Big Twin .. Then had a British Bike Dealer that was Mostly Triumph, BSA, and an Occasional Norton .. Honda was just starting to make a Splash back then with the 305 Dream and then slowly but surely got Bigger CC makes and when the CB750 4 hit the market they got huge and added Yamaha and Kawasaki as well .. The Biggest Difference I see now is the knowledge of the Sales People .. Back then they could just about tell you every aspect of the Motorcycle you were interested in and I don't mean The Engine internals but they knew what features were there and what was not .. When you left the Dealership you had a lot more confidence riding out knowing what to expect than the Few New Ones I have bought in the past 10 years .. While I am sure there are exceptions have not seen it very often ..

I wish the OP could have a moment of happiness from time to time. Reading his threads makes it seem like he is constantly beset by misery.

That said,ni also don't tend to see a lot of scooters at the moto dealers in AZ.

Just GOOGLE any scooter you are interested in and hundreds of sales ad's from coast to coast will come up, with prices that vary widely sometimes. Most will ship and the cost is reasonable it one gets a good deal.

All of the powersports dealers in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas all stock scooters.

Craigslist has a great motorcycle section, where scooters are sometimes listed for sale, all over the country.

In a Salesperson's defense, it's probably hard to know everything about various bikes today since the lineup is huge compared to when I was younger. Lots of the salespeople that I see have never even ridden one of the bikes their dealer sells unless it's their own.

I'm a professional writer. Meaning I make or have made a living by writing.

By the total # of views it would appear I am currently Mcforum's most-read writer. That makes me very happy that so many inmates like to read my bytching and moaning.

Honestly the fact that I went thrift shopping on my Concours today enjoying the perfect Phoenix weather doesn't make very good copy, even if I did some 85 mph sprints between stop lights when the road was completely clear.

I got some new Southwestern patterned dishes, which made me happy, an amp clamp that didnt work when I put in a new 9v bbattery (that made me sad), a new shirt, 2 pie spatulas, some stuff at Home Despot, brand new sneakers for $6.99 (very happy), some used speaker wire, and I stopped and picked up some BBQ for dinner..

Overall it was a great day, I was very happy, and tthe only thing that would have made it better would have been if I'd had a fun little Smax scooter to do it on instead of a ginormous sport\tourer except the LOusy G.D motorcyle deealers here don't order stock or want to sell them, dammitttttt to he111||||!!!!!

Wade if you count how often someone opens one of your threads then your shear post volume will make you the "most read". You post more stuff here than anyone else so by definition one or more of your posts will get read. Hell, I will read the cautions on a package of toilet paper and read all new posts regardless of quality here and on 2 other bike forums. It used to be 3 but one just did not maintain minimum standards of humanity and allowed a jackass to just post hate mongering comments unchallenged by anyone but me.

Smog

If it were up to "What Me Worry?" Republicans/Conservatives and their preference for the status-quo we'd still be in Vietnam and smog in LA would be worse than Bejing...
The smog in China is enough to reduce the growing season by one month.
Must be full of Republicans.
The smog in East Germany was just as bad. Took a bunch of fiscal conservatives to fix that mess.
Current US debt is over $18 trillion. Current US GDP is around $17 trillion.
For the mathematically challenged debt is greater than 100% of GDP.
Broke is considered 100% debt to GDP.
Wonder who is going to fix this mess. Saving the planet is a lot easier if you can afford to make changes. Right now the US Fed can not afford much at all.
I am a past organic farmer, along with my regular job. The environment needs to be cleaned up, and it is happening.
Nixon, the guy that got the US out of vietnam, he was a?? and Kennedy and Johnson they were?? Refresh my memory.

Kindest regards, Unkle Crusty*

Cuba also has a huge garbage and maintenance problem. Thought I would tell my American cousins, as I have been there. Must be a Republican state.

A good business plan if the Cubans can ever afford it, would be a paint store.

Kennedy, Democrat = Initiated US active military intervention in Vietnam.

Johnson, Democrat = Started overt conventional military action in Vietnam. Rapidly increased US military presence and committed ground troops to active combat missions. Initiated operation Rolling Thunder. Initiated a troop build up that lasted into the next administration. Advocated that the "domino theory" was justification for ever increasing combat operations in Vietnam.

Nixon, Republican = Began withdrawing US troops after his election in 1968. Advocated increased training of the South Vietnamese forces so that they could take over the defense of their own country. In general favored using technology over risking more US lives to support the ARVN. Ended the draft in the US. Used military intervention to disrupt Viet Cong and NVA safe areas and supply routes in Cambodia and Laos in an attempt to bring them to the peace talks. Used strategic bombing to keep the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong from stalling at peace talks. (It worked too.) Was President, and helped to bring about in January of 1973, the signing of an agreement that ended the Vietnam War.

The Democrats in Congress started a real howl after the US started bombing the North in the early 70's, and like to credit themselves for bringing about change, but the plan to end the war had been around since the late 60's and was already underway. I guess even then Liberals, God love 'em, didn't have a good grasp on strategic concepts or quite understand how violent human nature can be.

Now the smog thing, no, I don't know anything about that. But I'm glad LA isn't as bad as communist China is in a lot of cities!

There are three kinds of retards in the world...those that are born retarded, those that become retarded later in life, and the select few who are born retarded, and just get retardeder and retardeder and retardeder until one day their retardation overwhelms them, and they turn into a politician. The left-handed retards become Democrats and the right-handed retards become Republicans.

Anyone who would suggest that Nixon worked to actively to end the war in Vietnam is disingenuous at best if not badly badly misinformed. Nixon escalated the war he took it into Laos and Cambodia and lied to the American public endlessly

In Los Angeles right now, compared to years ago, there is less Smog But----there is an epidemic of Marxist/ socialist/ communists that follow the politically correct party line. There are also Sooooooo many of them on the Gubmit TEAT that CA will never, ever be the economic powerhouse it once was. It is within inches from going Bankrupt. !0 million---AH-- uninvited, guest Home Depot workers my overly large ARSE, there are probably 10 million in LA alone, not counting the rest of the state(S):icon_mad:

I was born in Southern CA and my offices were right in West Los Angeles. At one time, CA was the economic core of the United States and it was a very nice place to work and raise a family, with good, well paying jobs and plenty of them. Now, it's the new BAJA California and ran by nothing but staunch Liberal's. Anytime you put a liberal in charge of money the economy goes to Hades in a hand basket. Their only rally cry is: "More taxes!"

What the heck has this to do with Scooter's and Dealers?

Conservative Republican and proud to be so.

Wadenelson, I enjoy your posts but every time I look at your AVATAR, all I see is a grown man 'flipping us off.'

I've probably read a heckuva lot more objective history and strategic studies then most people have, so I'm hardly misinformed. Although I certainly am opinionated, I am not disingenuous.

It would almost be interesting to hear a liberal's point of view on why there was an invasion of Cambodia and Laos. (And no, it had nothing to do with the "military-industrial complex," )

Sure, Nixon lied, and also withheld truths, and there is a difference. But compared to this administration's flat out lies? That's like comparing a scooter to a full size motorcycle. :coffeescreen:

" It is so comforting to live in the past, but to do so will rob us of what is to become " Mr Addington.
I guess it also helps to manipulate the past and ignore the present.
I have yet to hear one socialist type, acknowledge the US has a debt problem. We have a political forum on my red neck tractor buddies site.

Germany just announced that University education is now free. Those damn fiscal conservatives. They were warned about the dangers of saving money. They were encouraged to embrace deficit spending, so they could help the more enlightened folks in Greece and Spain.

This is the present, and that is what needs to be discussed. IMO US folks are in for a lot of hurt, on the financial front.
The CA prison system has a budget of $7 billion per year. They spend $7.9 billion per year. Just one example of socialist financial mismanagement.

Unkle Crusty* A fiscal conservative. Not rich. I never had plans to rape the system, at the taxpayers expense. I did my community work on a volunteer basis. Past president of the South East Kelowna residents Association.
