My 1984 V65 is giving me fits. The carbs have been re jetted, cleaned and put in sync. It runs like a stripped assed ape but with one problem. When I get into it it is crisp and great response, but it won't calm down to an idle for several seconds after I let off the gas. It stays at a hi rpm and will not shut down right away. What do I need to adjust? I know it is in the carbs but I don't know where to look or what to adjust. Can someone HELP?

Could be a vacuum leak. Take some carb cleaner and spray around the carb boots when the bike is running. If the bike changes RPM at idle while doing that you found the leak.

I always look for the simple solution first, could the throttle cable be sticking? Maybe squirt a little oil down there. Or any linkages along the way.
Backtalk, my 84 1100 Magna is doing the same thing that you described. Can you tell me what you discovered was the problem?
