Hi all,
New here I just wanted to reach out to see if I can get some suggestions on touring the UP of Michigan. We will be crossing at the bridge and are thinking North to Paradise, West to Grand Marias, then toward Copper Harbor.

Anything you think that will be helpful would be great, I sure appreciate this as I am a novice tourer.

Thanks

I see that you have already seen my thread about my ride to Copper Harbor, that pretty much covers what I would suggest.

Are you heading west from the Keweenaw Peninsula or hooking back east?

A may be able to help with more specific questions once you get a basic route planned.

We absolutely Love riding around Lake Michigan and riding in the U P. If you are going to stay the night in Paradise, our favorite motel is Curley's and ask for a room around back. You can look out a picture window at the Lake. They also have picnic tables and a small beach for your use. http://www.michigan.org/property/curley-s-paradise-motel-cabins/

Places we love to visit/see: the locks at Saulte Ste Marie, The Iroquois Light House, Whitefish Point Museum and Lighthouse, Tahquamenon Falls, Pictured Rocks drive, the Keweenah Peninsula. You stated you would be riding toward Copper Harbor. This is a great site to find things to see: http://www.superiortrails.com/maps/superior-map.html

If you have time Oswald Bear Ranch is worth stopping at. We were last there in the month of July and got to hold, feed and pet a baby bear. I'm not sure you could do that this time of year though. You might want to check it out at:

I hope this helps. Good Luck and have Fun. By the way, have you ridden thru the Tunnel of Trees or Sleeping Bear Dunes? They are both beautiful.
