I don't know how much oil your bike holds, but if it already had oil and you added 4 quarts, there is probably too much in it. That means it could well be pumping oil out a breather and on some bikes that means also to the air cleaner box. That leads to an oil saturated air filter which will leak on the ground and gunk up the inside of your carb.
So I would follow the advice above and drain all oil as in a regular oil change, then add the prescribed amount. If you check the level then, you'll know that's where it should be when it has the proper amount. Also, check your air cleaner to be sure it's clean and dry.
