I use a stick, for both bikes, however I've gone double darkside on the Yamaha. So just enough pressure to keep it from wallowing around like a pig but not so much it feels like a jackhammer.

My biggest problem with any guage, is not so much the accuracy of the guage, but making myself use it!
If I bend my knees too far for too long, they don't want to straighten back out. Don't know whether to blame it on arthritis or lard.

Wal-Mart pencil type made in China. Not all that accurate, but it shows there is air in the tire. It's almost as good as just looking at the tire.

Just kick the tire, if its hard, you're good to go. If its soft, add air until its hard.
(Just kidding, its always best to use a gauge you trust.)
