I had the alternator belt come loose and when I pulled the cover off the front of the bike I found the timing pulley very loose.

Now after reassembling the pulley and belt and adjusting the tension on the alternator belt the bike will not run.

When turning over it gives a couple of puffs now and then which makes me think it is out of time.

I am looking for some information on how to reset the timing. From what I have read it appears that I need somekind of a sensor to set the timing plate.

It looks to me like the gadget shown in the pdf I found is nothing more than a light bulb in a fancy case that tells when the ignition contact points are closed.

Any help on this would be appreciated.
