After a few nice days a couple of weeks ago, days where I was able to get out for several hours of riding, the weather has returned to nasty, windy and relatively cold. This morning its 39 degrees, and winds strong enough that I just had to retrieve my trash cans and recycle bins from halfway down the block. The few nice days we have had lately I have had commitments that I could not change or cancel, so my plans to finally be able to take a demo ride on the new bike I am considering keeps being put off again and again. I'm too old to be wasting this much time without riding. Maybe I did something to offend the Gods of Motorcycling, like openly say that I am planning on trading in my Goldwing, or rolling my eyes when my neighbor asked me if I was going to buy a Harley!

There is only ONE God and He rides a Harley Electra Glide or an Indian Chieftan or so I hear!;)

It was 57 Degrees early Sat morning, went up to 75! and 40 this Sunday Morning and only 55 this afternoon.

I have joined several local CAN-AM Spyder Clubs recently and the response I got was amazingly enthusiastic and welcoming.

A group ride is planned for this coming Wednesday from Marionville, MO about 50 miles from my Home and then a planned route that I'm not privy too at this time and then of course the obligatory Breakfast or Lunch stop.

So far these groups seem to be maybe 75% Women but I can live with that. :p

Let the FUN begin! Pictures will follow.

If you are stuck at home, you can watch the Moto 3 - 2 - and GP bikes. The season started today.
For less than the cost of a rear tyre, you can subscribe and watch it live, or if the time is wrong, watch it later. I did.
Was either that or a bike gang meeting. But it was raining.
I have parked the older Yamaha 1100, and am riding the 96 Triumph Trophy, which handles a lot better. The Triumph is a sweet bike. In a few weeks I will have the shop check over the Suzuki. They are better at valve shims than me. UK

I never enjoyed watching motorcycle racing, but have enjoyed videos taken by the riders in the Isle of Man TT. And I have really enjoyed the Netflix series on F1 racing. I'm almost done with Season 3. Worthwhile if you have Netflix.

I'm sure I saw Him sitting behind me today, when a stopped car suddenly started to pull out in front of me on my right (rural 2 lane area). By then I was only about 30 yards away (45 mph),w/ a car coming opposite direction a bit ahead, almost put my ABS brakes to the test... and Thankfully the car stopped. Had my high vis vest & high beam on. Made eye contact as I passed by, but have to wonder...DUI? or just failed to see me?o_O (I could have gradually slowed a bit approaching the car while being careful that the driver did not misinterpret that.)
upper 80's today, finally got out for couple hours(y), everybody's brother & mother were out for a CA Sunday ride/drive.(n)

This is weird weather times. Yesterday I got out for about a two hour ride as the temps hit 66 degrees with bright blue skies. Surprisingly few motorcycles on the roads, but then again, it was a workday for most folks. But today its below freezing and the weather forecast is for a high of 34 degrees so I am not going anywhere on the bike.

We were right on freezing last night, but warming quickly when the sun shows up. I had a couple of exposed water lines that I covered with towels last night. Can not visit the local up Island coffee shop, as all the restaurants have been shut down. I will ride the triumph today anyway. UK

We almost always get a freeze sometime around Easter. So I'm prepared to cover my tomato plants AGAIN.

Vito ;

How does your three wheeler handle the rain and snow ? .

I keep wondering if I should get one as I'm pretty badly broken up at this point .

I wish I knew 75 female riders ! .

When I was a young and single man the only women I ever met astride either didn't like men, didn't like soap and water or both

Ugh .

Somehow I don't think a Spyder with it's single rear drive wheel will do as well as a conventional trike with 2 rear wheels. Whether both drive or not I'm honestly not sure. I guess I'll have to do a burnout with mine and find out.

Our Spyder's are known for their ability to 'BURN OUT,' on a dry highway, at will so I think slippery conditions like rain, ice and snow would require a very light throttle hand. 115 Horsepower is way more than most STOCK Big Twin touring bikes so the power must be respected.

-Nate, I will ask about riding on snow in one of my Spyder forums.

EDIT: Googled your question and here's a cool Youtube video:

Here is a RYKER Video, by the same Man:

O.K. then ! .

Thank you .

That looks exciting, maybe if I was younger ;) .

Many years ago a friend I had taught to ride asked me what about snow riding ? so I loaded up the truck with somt Tiddlers and he, my then young son and I headed up to about 9" of snow and had the whale of a time, the skinny 2.75" tires had little problem with traction, we were able to make 35MPH or so but not a thing I'd want to do in any traffic .

A few years back I saw a trike with rear dual wheels, I wondered if that's be any better in wet / snowy pavement, I have no idea what brand that trike was, NOT one of those huge Gold Win / Harley conversions, I don't like massive bikes .

Hog, what kind of trike do you have ? .

As I was a farm boy I never really got fun from shredding tire$, burnouts don't do it for me, I prefer to motorvate as quickly as I feel is safe in all situations .

Once at a fund raising ride the bike parked next to me was an Indian Roadmaster. We were on a slight forward incline so I needed to use the Reverse on the Goldwing to get the bike out. The owner of the Roadmaster, which is heavier than my Goldwing, said he did not have a Reverse feature. It took three of us to push this monstrously heavy bike back to where he could ride it away. Thinking of that, I wondered if this Indian trike has a Reverse. My Spyder has a true Reverse gear and I use it every day. A thousand pound ride without Reverse seems insane.

RE : reverse ~

When I special ordered my Ural Solo sT in 2010 I specifically added the reverse transmission because I knew I'd be able to back out of downslope places .
