I bought a 1973 Honda cb350 four recently from a friend everything on works and runs great but I noticed when I was out the other night that my tail light wasn't on. So I thought maybe the bulb was just out. Today I went to check it out and went I removed the cover there was only one bulb which was working great. So my question is on older bikeswere there not tail lights? Only break lights?

No, it should have a tail light. it must be a dual filament. One bulb should be the tail light and brake light.

It should have a dual filament bulb with two contacts on the bottom. You can test the bulb and the bulb outlet with a multimeter.

My guess is that either one filament is broken in the bulb, the bulb or socket is corroded, or there is a short or bad connection in the wiring.
