I got a 2003 kawasaki zx900. It starts up right away, the choke works and responds well, and while in neutral i can throttle it as high as i want and as long as i want with no problem. The problem is there is a major leak around the stator cap and when i gas and release the clutch it stalls out. I know that's not a lot of info but could anyone tell me if they had this problem and a recommended solution?

Check kickstand sensor and clutch lever sensor.

Could you start engine on the 1'st gear (or other - it's doesn't matter which) with pressed clutch lever?

See previous post. I don't think your stator concern has anything to do with your problem. I'll go with a safety switch until or if that's ruled out.

Defect of kickstand sensor could be linked with oil leak from stator cap - if the oil goes to the sensor :)
But...
Zx900 are you sure the leak is from stator cover? there shouldn't be any liquid.
