Does anyone have any safety issues to share? Tips?
Like the riders talking on their cell phones while riding?
Like the riders that go 100+ on the rear wheel while passing cars?

I've been known to smoke cigarettes while riding...is that dumb enough for ya? How bout smokin a cig and talkin on my bluetooth cell phone headset...while swerving into a bicycle lane to pass slow cars!
Um?...lets see here...one time I pulled onto a sidewalk to get around some traffic...I needed the headstart cuz I was racing my friend (Yamaha R1) home from work on my cruiser.
OOh...how bout the time I pulled up next to my buddy and whacked him with one of those plastic whiffle ball bats, that I was carrying in my back pack. WHAM!!!... right across his gay little red helmet...it was hilarious!!
Oh man...I gotta mention the time i was leaving a keg party following some of my buddies in a Range Rover... actually this one really sucked cuz one of the guys in the back seat decided it would be cool to throw ice cubes from the beer cooler at me goin about 40 mph. The one that hit my leg stung a little...but the one that hit my gas tank leaving a permanent ding hurt much worse.

Dam...thinking about the ding in my gas tank has made me mad enough to stop writing... Ill talk at ya later.

Hey KDaddy - I am sooooooooo pleased I live downunder and dont share the roads with you.!!!!
If I'm ever riding in the states do you mind if I post you and ask you if you'd stay off the roads if I pass through Tallahasse?
LOL you're too cute to be real- ride safe now.

Might sound stupid, but here's somthing to kick around. For those with mechanical not hydralic clutch cables, when you pull up to the intersection, if your going to be there a while, kick it into neutral, it can save wear and tear on the cable end.

Yikes! Hope they survived. I always have one limb on a brake when I'm stopped. I've had a bug fly into my helmet before, and I try to get it with my left hand, letting the clutch go and (luckily) stalling out.

Physics

40 years ago I kicked an empty cardboard box sitting the street while going about 30-35 mph. Through my leg back first, and then my whole body up, stretched out like superman flying and holding onto the (throttle open) handle bars.

Practical lessoned learned: Physics 101 objects at rest tend to stay at rest!

I still get pains in my right hip joint 40 years later when it is cold or about to rain.

Ride safe & long,
Colorado Fats

Ride with your brights on during the day, increases your visibility without causing problems. Use your lights normally at night though.

When you know you will be stopping, barely "pump" your front brake lever, just enough to make your brake lights come on, but not enough to actually engage your brake. Doing this will flash your brake lights to the vehicle behind you to get their attention before you actually stop.

I found a website that sells bulbs for motorcycles that are more powerful. I know people will say that it's dangerous because of wiring, but I did buy them for my sports car. The normal car bulb is 40 watts low beam and 60 watts high beam. I went to 60-100, and they work great. My C90T show 40 watts low beam and 55 watts high beam. This site claims 55 low and 80 high is no problem for motorcycle wiring. This is the website: http://www.rallylights.com/hella/7in.asp I'm going to upgrade so people can see me better. My friend's Harley light is so weak that I can't see him when he gets about an 8th of a mile behind me. I run my light on high during the day, but with the new bulb, I won't have to. It will be the same intensity.

Some bikes use a smaller gauge wires just before the bulbs, so if something is going to burn, that wire will pop. Be careful, since it'll be nighttime if something happens.

You can get hyper-white or blue lights in the same wattage. Some states have a 55W max for on-road vehicles. I personally wouldn't trust some sales website to tell me what won't burn my wiring.
