Hey MF Brothers,

Do we have any members in Australia (or fellow travelers) who might be able to tell me how a yank can ride in Australia? Moving there indefinitely is an option on the table, so I'm just wondering what I'd need to be able to ride while I'm there. Would have to buy a bike, too. Dunno what their laws are regarding purchasing without a license, but they do state-sponsored safety courses which is pretty rad and cuts down on my expenses.

If anybody knows if an American M1 would work down there indefinitely or if there's something else I'd have to do that can weigh in on this, it'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

From what I read, you can ride on your US license, but if you are staying there for longer than 3 months, you have to get an AU license. It seems they will transfer your motorcycle certification over without issue, but you have to make sure they don't forget to do it when you get the new license.
