Riding Bike to work in a suit

Hey,

I'm getting a bike at the end of May and am "planning" on riding it to work whenever possible to save on some gas. I am going to have to dress professionally in slacks and a button up everyday. The problem lies in the shoes. Dress shoes usually have a wooden piece in front of the heel on the sole. Is there anyone who rides to work and has a motorcycle boot that can pass off as a dress shoe? I wouldn't feel comfortable riding in dress shoes to begin with but any thoughts? Thanks

What about just changing shoes once you get to your destination? Is carrying a backpack an option for you? That way you can still wear nice shoes at work and also have real protection for your feet when you are on the bike.

I do the change the shoes routine, although after lunch I sometimes get lazy and leave the boots on. A lot of the "stylish" dress shoes look like boots anyway, so they don't really stick out. Here's what I wear:

With pants over it, it doesn't look any different than these:

They're Harley boots. I don't have any particular preference for the brand, but they're good boots, I just took off the metal Harley thing that was in the laces. I like the side zipper boots for ease of access. These have the zipper on the outside which is harder to use, but nobody makes them with the zipper on the inside anymore. I got them from a boot place, not from an HD dealer, I think the model name is Logger? Anyway, I recommend them, they're comfortable, sturdy, and not too heavy.

Found the model name: Harley Davidson 95203-Cimarron
awesome man thanks alot!
I ride with a suit on all the time, i just throw my shoes in my saddlebag and hit the road.
I never jumped on a bike before with a suit but if I would I may get one of those Dickies jumps suits to cover up my work suit just to keep the bugs off. Suits are expensive! As far as the shoes...in case your running late just slap a piece of duct tape over your left toe and off you go. Don't forget to take the tape off once you get to work. lol.

My Dad used to ride to work with a section of motorcycle inner tube over his shifting toe. I haven't had a problem with bugs on my pants, and I always wear my leather jacket on the top half. If there's a chance the roads may be wet, I throw on my rain pants to avoid splatter.

The only time I had a problem was when I got hit with a chunk of asphalt in the hand, and it bled through my gloves and all over my pants, but I wasn't continuing on to work after that anyway.

My last Harley boots had the zipper on the inside... I really liked the books. I didn't like the metal stuff toe and heel.

Here's a thought, ( I do this myself when I have to don the ol Uniform) ya might look into military dress shoes. There built bullet proof tough but , have the dress shoe look for around the office or where ever you need that just pressed look. Check out: Lighthouseuniform.com It's the place I use for my USCG stuff.
