Is this a test? I was expecting multiple choice..........

Catch and soak up fluids?

Absorbs sound?

Makes the floor warmer?

Used ones make for cheap throwaway floor mats to reduce foot and leg fatigue. Also gentler on the knees.

Something to wipe your feet on before going in the house.

Providing some cushion against standing for a long period of time on concrete.

The Mrs. bought new ones so you're permitted to take the old ones to the garage to enhance the looks of that cave?

Depends on what kinda rug.

The short nap rugs are for napping.

The long loops are for getting looped on.

And we all know what "shag" carpet is for. :D

We have some old carpet in the garage in front of the washer and dryer. Beats standing on cold pavement in the winter.

I'm with the other guys...........it makes sitting and kneeling on the floor a LOT more comfortable!!

Yes, it is also true that when the wife disposes of throw rugs in the house, YOU inherit them!!

For hastily covering up the spot where you just spilled motor oil and/or beer.

Anyone that does any welding or uses a grinder might recommend keeping a fire extinguisher nearby or have 911 on speed dial if you have oil soaked throw rugs laying around in a shop.
