purchase question? R6 or R1

OK, SO I HAVE A DILEMMA IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE FOUND A 2003 BLACK AND RED R1 WITH A FEW AFTERMARKET ITEMS (HIGH MOUNT M4 EXHAUST AND AN ELIMINATOR KIT THATS ALL FROM WHAT I CAN SEE ON THE PIX) AND I HAVE ALSO FOUND A STOCK 03 SILVER R6 WITH 1800 MILES. (THE R1 HAS 3300 MILES) THE R6 IS $5000 AND THE R1 IS $5100. THEY BOTH HAVE CLEAN TITLES BUT THE R1 HAS BEEN DOWN ON THE LEFT SIDE. DOESNT LOOK LIKE IT'S LEAKING OIL THOUGH ONLY THE CASE COVER WAS SCRATCHED UP A LITTLE BIT. WHAT DO Y'ALL THINK? ONE OTHER QUESTION I HAVE IS, THEY ARE BOTH FUEL INJECTED CORRECT? AND HAS ANYONE HAD OR HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT?

I'd buy the one that hasn't been down. Fixing those plastic fairings can get expensive.
one that never been down

one that never been down - u don't know how long the bike was laying on the ground and running (when dropped) and i hear it's not a good thing for the engine. also, plastics are expensive.

another thing is that r1 and r6 are very different in power bikes.... be careful in choosing one by the price tag only ;)
Those bikes have a tipover switch. They won't run once they go down. If the plastics aren't in bad shape you might want to consider the R1... what I mean is, don't rule it out without looking closer, unless you just really aren't interested in it.
im not sure how to answer without knowing a little back ground on you! Im assuming that this isnt your first bike..... if you have had a 600 and feel confident that you can handle the R1 then id go for it... plastics arent really that bad... hit up ebay and craigslist... then just get it repainted. my bike has been down but i just hit 4000 miles on an 04 and thats why i bought it. I can fix the body but i didnt wanna bike with 12000 miles on it... If it is your first bike id stick with the R6!! because the power will be more than you need!!!

I'd recommend taking them both on a test ride, that may help you decide. Shuggs has some good advice.

On a side note, you should refrain from using all caps. It's the equivalent of shouting, and considered bad form. Just a suggestion :)

YEAH A**HOLE! haha jk
wonder what he decided? I wouldve suggested the 600. Lower miles , not laid down, stock.
Well, if you can believe Cycle World (and I do) the R6 is a much more "user friendly" street bike than the R1 (depending on your experience, of course!) Having ridden neither, and being a traditional naked streetbike guy myself, I'd take the R6 over the R1 just from my experience sitting on both. Might be a good idea to see a Yami dealer and demo both. In the end, it's your decision alone that matters, not ours.
