Hey guys I was wondering about the hp ratings between the 1989 Honda NC30 and the 2008 Kawasaki 250R. I have a friend that thinks the 250R would out-perform the VFR(of course he's wrong, but I'd like to gauge your guys' response to this. lol.) The VFR makes 59 BHP and the 250R makes 31 BHP. With suspension, braking, turning etc. aside, how much of a difference does 28 hp make?

Cheers,
Chris

Well if you count all that out 28 horsepower extra between 2 vehicles weighing even within the vicinity of each other (meaning +/- 100 pounds) would be a huge difference. That is, if you are just comparing engines and power output.

Now you throw in suspension, tires, braking and so on including the rider it might be a different outcome. I don't know how well either of them are suspended.

I'm actually looking at both bikes as a first. SOOOOO stuck. The Kawasaki has some pretty damn good looks for a 250, and the VFR has got the performance. Not that the 250 is weak, or that the VFR isn't good-looking though.

This is purely what I would enjoy more, and I'm looking to keep the bike atleast 2 seasons. I'm 5'8-5'9 and I weigh 130-140lbs. I've actually gotten the chance to sit on a VFR, and it's not bad comfort-wise. Ergonomics are nice. I haven't sat on a new 250, but I sat on a ZZR250(EX250) and it was just as comfortable. I'll also be using it for long distance trips. So comfort is pretty is important.lol
