All my squirming on my bike in the twisties has worn a spot through the paint on my tank. I'd like to get a tank protector, but the worn spot is in kind of a weird place to make sure the protector would cover it so I'm trying to decide if I would have better luck with a one- or two-piece protector.

Thoughts?

Seems that you like right hand corners more....I'd go for a two piece tank protector because of the different curves on the tank. One piece ones are less malleable and can tend to lift at the edges on very curved sections.

My Aprilia has a similarly shaped tank.

Although there should be two marks, I wouldn’t worry about it but wear it with pride that you use your bike, similar to chicken strips discussed in another thread.
I would avoid the universal fit and go for a quality set specifically cut for your Ninja 400. There are some 3M products that you can cut and apply if you are handy. I've had one and two piece and they have all been good. By the way, I think the mark adds character!
I actually like to say that I was leaning so hard that I was scraping hard parts!!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: My only real concern is rust. Will it if I don't treat it somehow? I figure touchup paint will end up doing the same thing eventually.
