Hi all,

I just got my first bike, 2002 ex-500, and it needs itself an oil change.

What brand/type of oil do you use or recommend?

Some sort of sythentic 10w-40 would be ideal, right?

Thanks

What ever the bike's dealer or shop uses/sells. If the people that sell and work on the bike use it, it should be good enough to use yourself.

I use 15W50 Mobil 1 automotive oil in the Sportster, FZ6, Roadstar, dirt toys, Jeep, and the misses ride too. They all love it as do I because you can get it at Wally World for $5.00 a quart. Motorcycle specific oil is not necessary nor does it offer any benefit.

I have a 2006 Ninja 500, I use Rotella T 5W-40 "synthetic" and supertech filters (I think 7317 is the number).

You can use regular motor oil as long as it is not marked "energy conserving".
