For me freedom means the right to do what you want, as long as it doesn't harm or infringe on the rights of anyone else.
You live out on a huge piece of property with no one you are going to disturb for miles around? Make as much noise as you want, knock yourself out.
But if you are around other people you should respect their rights too. Not everyone works and sleeps on your schedule, not everyone wants their hearing damaged so your bike can make 0.002% more power. This goes for all forms of loud noise and/or potentially dangerous activity.

Been hearing for years to de fund the Police so I guess they have better things to do being short handed. I know of a few big cities that don't chase bikes anymore, so lane spitting over 100 mph you won't go to jail. Just like the Old West LOL.

Sorry again , I have no time to waste on UTUBE watching fools ..... Just because they're out there , does'nt make it right , or smart .... It does our community no good . Does'nt help our reputation ..... We , Well , some of us .. have better sense ......

I don't know how it works everywhere but when I lived in Washington state they would follow bikes from a distance but normal car pursuit activities like pushing off the road or spike strips was considered deadly force with a motorcycle rider, which is why they wouldn't do that except in the most extreme cases. So to de-escalate they did not chase, since they were not allowed to catch.
Police in this country started as a means to control and recapture slaves, so they certainly had a pretty tainted start. Just like any large organization their unofficial mandate has clearly become to serve and protect their own interests, which has become a real problem as far as the lengths cops will go to to protect their own, even when it is well known they were in the wrong. Outside of those major issues, unless you have a fire the police are who you get when you need help with just about any emergency.
Police are the given the power of life and death by the state, and are trained in enforcement of laws, often by violent means. Police are the social hammer, and as the saying goes when your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
As far as the defund the police movement, I am sure some would like to completely remove any sort of law enforcement agency, but it was my understanding the majority were looking to shrink police budgets in order to grow other public services budgets in order to take care of emergency situations police are not equipped to handle.
A good example of this is what happens when someone threatens to harm themselves? If you call 911 worried about a loved one, do we get some sort of trained therapist show up? Nope you get police prepared to answer a teetering delicate glass vase issue with a hammer, and the result is often far worse than not having anyone come help at all.
Even many police will admit they are put into far more situations than what they are trained for and equipped to deal with. The argument is just what sort of additional services are needed, and where the funding will come from.

You obviously have never been involved with law enforcement .... Training is on going ....A daily lesson on how , and how not . To deal with John Q public ....
There are untold examples of good / bad cop. Usually only the bad gets the most recognition ..... Most are not even recognized , but just the normal everyday routine for Lawmen , firefighters , EMTs ....

Funny, I heard the one about how "police came into being to recapture slaves story" just yesterday... Do some research, real research, not liberal propaganda. The truth can be found if you really want it.
This is an argument I have no taste for. I'm on the sidelines for this one...

Unfortunately I have plenty of experience with law enforcement, plenty of bad, and not because I was breaking the law, and even the occasional splashes of decent human beings.
Exactly. The problem is the good support and shelter the bad, which makes the organization as a whole a serious problem.
I won't give you all the personal examples I have, but one of the clearest for me involves a man sentenced to prison for over a decade. His crime? Recording a cop having sex with a 15 year old girl then taking that recording directly to the police department.
The tape evidence was conveniently "lost", the man was sentenced to prison for making child pornography, based on eye witness accounts of the tape from other police, the pedophile cop was never mentioned during the trial and continued working unpunished.
That's the police. If they are not criminals themselves, they are accomplices to the crimes their fellow officers commit. That is a HUGE problem.
