ninja 250 won't downshift

The problem is, it is very hard to make it down shift. not that it's hard to move the shifter just it takes ten to fifteen full downward presses to shift from 6th to 1st. Now when this first happened i was out running some airrens the trip totaled about 30 miles and it happened suddenly about 22-25 into the trip. i tried to adjust the shift lever and that just made it worse now up shifting from forth to fifth it's like its in neutral and to same from fifth to sixth down shifting is still the same i need help with this my truck is down until parts come in and i was relying on my ninja and now it does this to me. the bike is a 2007 Kawasaki ninja 250 with about 800 miles on it.

Thank You

Isn't your bike under warranty? You may want to have it checked by the dealer if it is. I have a 1992 EX500 that won't shift to 5 or 6 at all (acts like neutral sometimes, other times like 3rd gear). I still ride it, even though 4th is tricky. I still go 65mph with no problems. If you hear what caused the problem, let me know :)
because i need it to work for the next two days till i can fix my truck
Unfortunately, I don't think this is going to be an easy fix. I think it's an internal problem, which will require a lot of time/knowledge, or the shop to fix it under warranty. Sorry for your bad luck having both vehicles down, that always sucks.
do you think it's safe to ride to the dealer about a 30min ride
All I can say is I ride my EX500 around 60 miles a day, and it has only gears 1-4. I stay under 65, and I keep my RPMs around 6K. I would keep your bike off of the highway for sure, but the back roads should be fine. Let me know what your problem was, it may be the same as mine.
well it's at the dealer we'll see what happens

Im interested to hear whats up just because Ill be picking up a ninja in the coming months.
they claim it had a quart to much oil in it. the MOM specifys 2 quarts when you change the filter i used two one quart bottles i don't see how i could have had three quarts in it
I have a feeling you'll be seeing them again. Maybe you were attacked with a drive-by oiling.

Unless all the old oil didn't come out. Does yours have the sight window like the 500's? Make sure it's level when you check the oil. If mines on the kickstand there is no oil in the window but on the centerstand it's right where it should be.
