Newbie with questions on handle bars????

I am a newbie and looking for a starter bike of my own. My question is when it comes to switching out handle bars what is involved when ordering?

What I means is if I get a 78 Shadow or a 95 rebel or what not, do all cruziers have the same size or is it more of a universal app.?

The reason is I am looking to get my first bike (riden for a wile now) and feel more cofident and comfortable with a taller handle bar. Not any HUGE ape hangers, but not the stock style either. I am short ( 5-3ish) and yet the taller bars tend to work for me better.

Thanks to all,

Poppa

All you got to know is if it's 7/8" or 1" diameter handlebars. Most Japanese bikes are 7/8" bars. The hardest thing about changing bars is if the wiring is ran through the bars, thats a pain in the ass getting them out and most replacement or custom bars dont have the holes for the wires. If your wires are ran through the bars once you get them out wrap them nicely with black tape and zip tie them snugly to the new bars, it don't have to be tight but tight enough so they don't move but you can move them if ya need to.The other thing is cable and brake hose routing.

So to understand this, if its a Honda, Kawi or old Suzu then it would more then likely be a 7/8" bar. Thanks for the info.
Yeppers. Most Japanese bikes use the 7/8" bars with the exception of some newer ones using the 1" bars.
