Welcome from Arkansas. Being that I gravitate more towards the other end of the height scale I haven't run across too many bikes I couldn't straddle, (if any). I think you just need to go out an sit on a few that attract your attention and see what "fits". Good Luck.
New member, just wondering what would be the best sport starter motorcycle for me
I am a 5'1 female, so on the short side lol. But that has never stopped me from wanting a bike. But the thing is I mostly really want a crotch rocket. But I was wondering since I am a new rider what would be the right bike for me. I was thinking either a Honda cbr250r or a Kawasaki ninja 250. Btw I'm also new to the group.

Welcome to the fray. A crotch rocket will be difficult for you to straddle I'm afraid. There are a few bikes out there that you may find comfortable but not the type or style you may prefer. I'd do a lot of checking around, you should find something that fits your needs. Good luck.
Welcome from Virginia. I have just gotten a lowering kit for my daughter's CB300F. In the process I ran across a video of a young lady about your height installing a lowering kit on a CB250R. You might want to try a lot of bikes until you find one that fits that you don't have to modify. It may not be what you want but getting safe riding experience is the most important thing when starting out. On the other end of the scale, there is a bike in the shop that draws my eye every time I see it (and I might buy one), a Honda Super Cub. Back in the day when I was young they were a blast to drive and the Vespa type scooters are also a ton of fun. Honda makes them too. Your initial choice is also an uncomfortable riding position for long rides. Good luck.

The sport-bike style has probably attracted as many (or more) new riders than the cruiser style has for mid/older riders... just understand that even the smaller ones are designed to emulate their racing counterparts in some fashion, and the learning curve for them will be much closer to vertical than on the bikes that have a more conventional riding posture. Most (new or old) riders are impatient to get riding and don't want (or have the resources to) buy and interim bike just to get to the one they want... Can you start riding on Ninja -- sure, if you excersize reasonable discipline and attack the learning process as a process... But even these smaller sport-bikes (or many others for that matter) have much broader performance boundaries than the new/returning rider...
Be careful (take the MSF course if you haven't already), its an addicting sport -- good luck...

There are quite a few bikes that look like crotch rockets, but the engine tuning is pretty mild and the riding ergonomics are not extreme. I'm thinking Ninja 300, Honda cbr 300r , Yamaha R3. these would all be good bikes for a beginner except for the fact that the inevitable drop is going to damage some expensive plastic.

There are lowering links for just about any style sport bike out there so that is always an option. As for a 250, they are great for beginners but you are likely to want something with a little more "umph" in short order if you do any serious amount of riding. I started on a Ninja 300 and it was great to learn on but also had enough power that I could do short stints on the highway without feeling like I was at the mercy of the cars and trucks around me. With the 300 now discontinued to make way for the 400, they shouldn't be too hard to find used...

This might not be good advice because I've read different things about them. Being not so good, too much torque, but a Buell Blast is a small bike that you MIGHT be able to fit on. I think the seat heat can be as low as 27.5". I'm not sure if it would be low enough or you.
I would think an older Honda Rebel would probably fit, but like some say, a completely opposite end of the spectrum as a sport bike.
I wonder if any of the small bikes would work for you to begin with. Like the Honda Grom or the Kawasaki Z125. And then there is one called the SSR Razkull. I'm sort of interested in the Razkull cuz of price and my Daughter wants to learn how to ride too. She's a bit taller than you but not much.

Hello from Arizona. I myself have this issue for I am 5'0 possible even 4'11 haha but anyways my recommendation would be to start out on a Honda Rebel. When I took the license course they put me on a Honda Rebel. It was perfect, low to the ground, easy to control, and very lightweight. I'm currently on an Indian Scout Sixty but that's because I've been riding for 8 months now. It's still a bit light weight but does have some weight to it and is a little bit higher than the Honda Rebel. What ever you choose just be safe and take it slow. One step at a time. Good luck!
