Hey all! My names Matt I'm 56, back into biking after a 20 year gap. Feels good. I'm bit of a Buddhist/non duality veggie alternative type I suppose though that's all pretty generic and ordinary these days. Still like a beer a takeaway and a bloody good laugh. Looking for a bike buddy to do the NC500 with at some point this year. Maybe over four days three nights camping. Never done that with the bike before and just fancy some adventures before I'm too old to get out of the armchair. Open to someone else's tour if it's in a different bit of the country but not more than a few days. Safe travels, Matt

@Mattias Welcome to the forum from North Carolina, USA.

NC500 ?? I thought it might be something I've missed in North Carolina.

I googled it and found: The North Coast 500 is a 516-mile scenic route around the north coast of Scotland.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I'm tempted to look into renting a motorcycle and joining a NC500 tour.

It might take a while to complete with distillery stopovers along the way!

Hey thanks Oz! North Carolina would be amazing too! Thankfully the NC500 is not too far from me in Northumberland UK. Crazy little beautiful roads around here too through farms and UK military land which we are allowed to ride through except I got stopped for the first time the other day due to live mortar round fire. Had a good chat to the lads on guard duty who are into bikes. About half my age and absolutely frozen to bits! They could do with some of that Scottish whisky you like the idea of 🍻.

Reminds me of my home town, Bristol, Rhode Island. In the 1960's there was an Army Nike Missile complex along the waterfront. The site's Hercules missiles were armed with nuclear warheads. As kids we ignored the danger keep out live fire signs that were posted everywhere. We routinely cut across the fields to get to a favorite beach.
