Trouble is, 99% of the 2nd gen boxes will not work without rebuilding the ignition system with it, which I do not want to do (but is looking like I may HAVE to).. and the 1st gens I've managed to find a won't work on my '87..... It's almost comical it's so rediculous!!!

Try eBay! <img src="http://www.motorcycleforum.com/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />

Note: 2nd gen Rebel (1996-2009) CDIs can be used on 1st gen Rebels with some modifications. However, it looks like there are plenty 1st gen CDIs on eBay so that shouldn't be a worry.

Oof. I have a second gen Rebel 250. This makes me hope my CDI never goes out. I'll do some searching of my own and get back to ya if I find an exact year CDI. :)
