Naming your motorcycle - feedback please

Hey guys and gals,

First, I am one of those who names my bikes, and I know that some of you do as well.

Second, I got tired of having to retype and upload photos and details about my bike on each forum that I hang out at... and it got me to thinking.

So I have come up with a simple way to not only store my bike's information, but also to have a cool link name. Been done before, I am sure, but I think it may be something y'all would be interested in anyway.

Here's how it works (simple)
  1. Create an account at http://my.steelhorse.name (free, no catches)
  2. Create a photo album for each bike you own (takes only seconds)
  3. Upload your photos and information to the albums you create (ta da!)

That's it!

Now, the cool part is that while you create an album for your bike, you can go into the block labeled "URL Path" and type in a name so that your web links look really cool instead of having internet-url-gibberish in them.

Example, here are my bikes:

http://my.steelhorse.name/michelle
http://my.steelhorse.name/stacey
Name your pages and pictures however you please!

There is no competing forum on the website, and I don't intend to set one up on it! The purpose is to give you a link that you can post in your favorite forums (such as motorcycleforum.com) to show off your ride(s). I know that this isn't going to interest everyone, but if you like it you are more than welcome to use it. :)

I just set the site up today, so there may be some bugs... any and all feedback is appreciated.

Maybe if the weather is nice next weekend I can take some more photos; we are about to take the kids to the skate park. I don't have a whole bunch of pictures of her on my bikes for some reason. Probably because I am not a great photographer!

Oh yeah

I know a lot of my HD buddies have names for the MC cause I hear them calling their rides name quite often as I ride past.

The most popular seem to be Godd**n, JEEESUS CHRIST!, and 'U SOB!'.

Sorry guys, I just could not resist, it was just too easy. Its humor! Don't get all hostile on me now!

Mornin' Adrian,

Sounds cool - thanks for posting this! :D Only thing is I just gotta' ask: Your wife let's you get away with naming your bike's other women’s names?! Dang?! Mind you, my wife has named her new truck a guy's name. :( But if in turn named my bikes women's names.... YIKES, I don't even want to think about it! Instead, I refer to them as "My Kids" :D - seems to be the safest bet?!

LRG

Footnote: Although admittedly, on more then a few occasions I probably just call em' a few 'stronger' names then Fat's suggested!

The metric cruisers name their home appliances also since they have the same emotional appeal as their bikes. This is my toaster Mildred, Esther my bike, Gertrude the lamp...:D

She has asked me when I am going to name a bike after her; I told her once I buy a bike that is really sexy... :D Nice bike, btw...

Oh man, GREAT save!!! :D Hee-hee... definitely GOT to remember that one!

Footnote: Okay, going OUT on a limb here as usual, I'd say for MY wife - possibly a Vincent Black Shadow or (more likely) Britton would be needed?! For your wife either a Ducati or Moto-Morini, whatta' think?! :D

Smart move! Laying the ground work for her approval on the next purchase!!!
Geeeze, wish I'd thought of that.

It's like we are all sharing the same brain... I have my eye on a Ducati 1098s .. ...

Heh-heh, VERY cool! :D It's an easy call on this end: On one hand my wife always conveys the fact that "the Brits know better then to buy ANYTHING made IN Great Britian"! On the OTHER hand, she has stated more then once "since I have a British wife I should at least have (one) British Bike"! :D No arguement there! I did have a 1970 Norton Commando at one time (purchased as a classic Basket Case) which I'm ashamed I didn't finish and sold for parts. Got to admit that someday I'd like to have at least one Made IN Britain (NOT India!) modern classic (i.e., updated!) British Bike to make up for the one I ran out of steam on so many years ago! :D

Don't miss the opportunity.....tell her you've been considering what she once said, and have finally come to the conclusion the only bike that would do her justice would be a Black Shadow...or Rapide!

Wel if we're talking sexy!

I bet even the Sportsbike guys could be convinced of the error of their ways and come over to the cruiser world on this! Yes, and even I would ride this Harley.

*** Oddly Enough this MC is named NORA ***

A little weird for my taste... I think I will stick with my Nora ;)
I can get away with naming my bikes with female names, but I am thinking my wife would take exception if I brought something like that home...

Just seems like a waste of fuel to me, after all, how can you get the fuel out of the deep pockets up front so its useable?? :D

I am going to refrain from sharing the first possible solution that leaps to mind. ;)
