First I want to thank everyone for your input and opinions as I made my decision to purchase this bike. I have not ridden in over 12 years coming from a 750 ninja. In two days I have put over 200 miles on this bike and it has been fantastic! It's a 1999 Suzuki Intruder 1500LC that had 1791 miles when I bought it for $3500, (I think I got a great deal)

Now where are some good places to get parts? ie pipes, driving lights, windshield? Thanks

sparing something horribly wrong with parts on the inside, you made out like a bandit...

change all the fluids, and check/change all disposable parts like spark plugs, and put some sea foam in the gask tank.

Its a 1999 with less than 2000 miles is a tad suspicious, but good job, you made out like a bandit.

edit: denniskirk.com, jpcycles.com and drag specialities have never steered me wrong, and check your local parts guys too.

My thoughts exactly when I saw the miles. That is why I took the bike to a Suzuki dealership and had them check it out to which the mech stated that he had not seen a cleaner 99 also that he could not see one thing wrong with it. Everything has been changed from oil, plugs, fuel filter etc. Also, the appearance of the bike from paint to every aspect shows no wear at all. Utimately it was the clean bill of health from the Suzuki mech that made me feel at ease.

Wow, awesome find! Beautiful bike!

It's not all that odd to find a cruiser with low, low miles...some seem to be garage candy rather than transport.

(and frankly, that thing is old school and purdy!)

HAVE FUN!

I think someone else said it best "thank god for RUBs, waxing, polishing, maintaining, and garage keeping my next bike for me, so I can ride a virtually new bike for cheap."

Coming off a ZX7 huh? Ain't it weird riding with your feet in front of ya? Kinda freaked me out the first few rides on my Honda...still keep putting my feet in the wrong place once in a while on take off...

What did you do, hold a gun to this guy to get a bike like that for pocket change... Why can't I find bargains like these...
Anyway, congrats on your new ride and hope you have many happy cruzin miles ahead for you......

Thanks for all the comments! lol I know this is a big jump not riding for almost 13 years but I felt it was a deal I could not pass up. It was just being in the right place at the right time.
Yeah, it is weird putting my feet forward and coming to a balanced stop is needing some work too! However it is very smooth and really has some nice torque down low to get that weight going. Once again thank you all for the help in this process!

Great bike! And great deal. I started with a 650, but if I had yours right now, I'd be planning a summer tour!

I rode a few miles with a guy today that had a Vulcan 1500. He had it all tricked out, setup for two, really ready to roll. And he had put 50K miles on it in 9 years. I hope to be putting that kind of mileage on mine.

Btw, mine is an '02 V Star, and had only 2350 miles on it when I picked it up a couple of months ago. Kinda mind boggling really, only 300 miles a year.

I have a '05 v-star 650 and it only had 246 miles when I picked it up last month. :D When I searched the title, I discovered I was the third owner. First owner was in MD.

It now has a little over 1,000 miles and I hope to put 150 on today.

Hey everyone, thanks for the comments! Well I just put on a set of Bub exhaust straight pipes with baffles on them, WOW!!! What a great sound! I have already ordered and waiting on new floor boards, custom mirrors, grips, 4" custom risers, running light bar and a few chrome parts!!!! I only spent just over $500 for all of that stuff and it's all brand new for the most part. I fortunately work on a computer all day and can research for parts and I found them. I will post some pics when I get a chance. I am in search of white wall tires which will set the looks of this bike right off IMO.:thumbsup:

About what I paid for my Roadstar 1600, and I had to replace the cams and lifters(about 8hr job and $500 in parts). Rewarding, but kept me off the bike for months. So I think you did ok.

denniskirk.com is where I got my bags, tank tux, and numerous other things. They have great sales, but for now, enjoy it, get to know it, and you'll get to know the parts you need much better.

Nice scoot, enjoy the ride.

For me, I was at the right place at the right time....
I walked into an office that I do PC work for and the guy in the office asked me if I wanted to buy a motorcycle. I looked at him dubiously and said for how much???? To which he replied, "$500.00". I then chuckled at him and asked him if it ran, to which he replied of course.

I went to his house, been there many time to work on his computer, and he had is outside the garage and he tried to fire it up. The battery was weak and it would not start. He called me up the next day and told me that he had charged the batter up and had it running. I took it for a spin and immediately fell in love.

I have put about $3,000.00 into it. New tires, new gas and vacuum hoses, cleaned out the gas tank, carb re-worked three times, disabled the kick-stand kill switch and the onboard computer. Replaced the turnsignal lights and the brake handle. New spark plugs, NGK BPR7EIX, and Mobile one 4T-Racing oil fully synthetic, and of course the air and oil filters.

After all of that, two new helmuts and a pair of Chippewa boots, and a thrustmaster jacket, some bungy cords and a bungy mesh net. I am ready to wear out some tires. :71baldboy:

Oh yeah, I do use it for work sometimes toting around some sick computers!
