Motorcycle Picture Challenge....

565819 Views 7770 Replies 252 Participants Last post by  Heartbroken
We did this on another bike forum and it was fun. The intent is to get out and ride to complete the challenge before someone else does. All you need to do is take a picture of your bike with the challenge item in the background.

The rules here are simple. Be sure to note them before creating the next challenge for the rest of us.

1 - Has to be YOUR motorcycle.
2 - Picture has to be taken after challenge is made.
3 - Challenge is good for 2 weeks, if it is not met, the previous picture poster picks a new challenge.
4 - Nothing illegal to be challenged.
5 - Keep comments to a minimum, if you comment, post the current challenge after your comment. In Bold Italics
6 - No repeat challenges.
7 - All challenges must be of your bike and a landmark, something most people can ride to or find in their area.
8 - No other bikes can be used in a challenge, ie. your bike next to a Ducati. Some exceptions allowed, ie. you bike next to a bike cop.
9 - All challenges can be removed by moderators. At which point the postee of the challenge will be asked to change his current challenge. After being asked once and there is no change or challenger posts another crapy challenge then the prior challenge winner will pick a new one.

Examples - "Your motorcycle in a garage", "Your motorcycle crossing a river", "Your motorcycle with no engine", "Your motorcycle next to a firetruck" etc. Doesn't need to be a fancy picture, cell phones, whatever works.

Thanks guys. Remember, this thread is supposed to get guys to WANT to go ride right away and beat your friend to the picture challenge, be creative, but have limits. Thanks.

First Challenge:

Your bike in front of a sporting goods store.

Like @Doktor, I like to have things spelled out for me. In that vein, and hopefully to make it easy for folks to express their preference, I'll lay out the choices the way I'd like someone to lay them out for me.

Option A: the issuer of the failed challenge (Your bike on a trip through the snow) gets to issue a new challenge. In this case, that's @Bitterroot Bugler.

Option B: the issuer of the failed challenge does not get another chance; instead, the issuer of the most recently met challenge (your bike with something warm) gets to issue a new challenge. In this case, that's @Maxpressure520.

So, what should Rule 3 really mean? Choose option A or B.
I'm going Option B. Consider this: if it's Option A and that person continues to post unattainable challenges, how long does that go on, ad infinitum?

If that's the case, then we better hope that I don't get the next challenge, because I have at least a years worth of challenges that no-one would get unless they live here....and the intent of this thread is to keep it MOVING.

This is absolutely nothing against/about Bitter or Max - just rules clarification.

We have rules?
I could have got the snow pic, but I won it the last time we did it.

Your bike with rule number 3.

It proceeds number 9. Any judge will rule, that any rule that is confusing to the average Joe, will get discarded. UK

I believe in grace, so I will support option “A”.
I vote A.
You upper level guys go ahead and fine tune your rules. Meanwhile I have a real simple work-around. If I am in charge, the new challenge is:
By amazing coincidence, if the previous challenge issuer is in charge, the new challenge is:

Your bike with a Christmas inflatable.

I like this solution, so let’s get things going.
Here is my bike with what I thought was a rather amusing Christmas inflatable

Dont know if I get a vote here, but am leaning towards option B. Im as confused as can be broos. As usual its up to our leaders to decide whats best for us. No point in speculating about the inactive ops rules. New, clearer rules should be made. Maybe vote on them? If the powers that be decide its back on me, then Im calling Mikes pic a winner.

My own preference is option A. So far, option A is the winner, so I'm going to propose this wording for Rule 3:
3 - Challenge is good for 2 weeks. If it is not met, the issuer of the failed challenge picks a new challenge.
Give it a thumbs up, or propose some different wording. When it's settled, I'll edit post #1 with the new wording.

On a somewhat related note, I'm proposing new wording for Rule 9:
9 - All challenges can be removed by me a moderator. At which point the postee of the challenge will be asked to change his current challenge. After being asked once and there is no change or challenger posts another crapy challenge then the prior challenge winner will pick a new one.
Not to go crazy with this, but after all, the OP of this thread is long gone. The idea is that if there is enough WTF response to a crazy/stupid/dangerous/impossible challenge a moderator can step in to get the game going right again.

I like that change, it makes perfect sense.

Thumbs Up for that...
And Yes, Fix the wording in rule 9

I think "B" fits the actual wording of the rules because it refers to the "previous challenge" not the just-failed challenge but the previous challenge meaning the one that was successfully completed.

But, I think scenario "A" is simpler to understand and to apply in the real world, so if we're gonna change or clarify the rules I would go with "A" and let the originator of the non-completed challenge try again by naming something else that is easier to find.

P.S. A person who issues a pic challenge, watches it get successfully completed, and then announces the winner, may not follow this thread anymore! That poster may feel free to take a break and not pay attention to what's happening here, and might not be ready to step up and issue another challenge if the current one fails in 2 weeks.

It just doesnt make sense to me for a failed challenger to get another chance, but Im all for second chances. I think It should be an actual poll vote so everyone gets a vote, but whatever.

The two interpretations of Rule #3 were already discussed and everyone was already asked to give their input. You can’t show up late to the discussion and then complain about the way it went just because you showed up late and missed the discussion while it was occurring.
Give it a thumbs up, or propose some different wording. When it's settled, I'll edit post #1 with the new wording.
I think input time is still Onnnn...

In case there is any lingering ambiguity in anybody's mind, I agree that Mike met the existing challenge and is on to propose the next one.
Your bike with a Christmas inflatable.

Goodness gracious, it took this thread 369 pages for me to do something outlandish enough to inspire a review of the rules. See, I can serve a useful purpose.

Time for this challenge to get a move on and so the next challenge is:
a picture of your bike with that icon of moving, a U haul truck.

If the overwhelming consensus is #1, then there should be a limit on how many new challenges can be issued by the member. Leaving it open ended is pointless. Eg:

3 - Challenge is good for 2 weeks. If it is not met, the issuer of the failed challenge picks a new challenge. If the second challenge is not met, then the choice of challenge falls to the preceding winner.

That's a good addition, I like it.

I agree. That’s very valid point. 👍
