Trying to gauge interest for starting a motorcycle only B&B. Im right off interstate 77 in VA. I have a 3 br 1bath house. I have an empty garage that can handle 6 bikes overnight, you have the key (padlock) to said garage. Its situated in less that a mile from I-77. You can camp next to our stream, we have 2-4 person tents or mosquito netting. I cook dinner each night, you're invited. I do laundry twice a day. I have 2 washers and 2 dryers. I have a separate house for women only, if required. Hey, sometimes riding behind that hunk is cool but after all day who knows and there are plenty of girls who ride bikes and want to feel safe. its an option im working on.
I'm thinking of targeting long to mid-range drivers. No matter where you stop at night you worry about your bike. I rode in my younger days.
Your bike is secure, your lodgings are perfect. I would open at 9am. need a rest, a snack, a quick load of laundry while you eat lunch...stop by. This is not a true B&B. this is my house you're staying with me. Pet friendly with scoops or shovel
Don't know costs yet, but what would you be willing to pay to stay?
Close to Dragons tail, fall foliage trips. This is NOT a destination. No Gas. No oil. 7 miles. I have a can or two of 60 weight around.

Interesting concept, I wish you luck.

Why don't you stop by the intro page and interduce yourself.
Critter.....cool. except the Navy part. Go ARMY
As soon as I figure it out I'm in. My kids say I'm not good with computers.
Most people want a private spot of their own, not staying at a stranger's house. Maybe you could put in a private entrance. That would make it more appealing, especially to couples.
There are lots of folks that will be interested in you proposal if your rates are reasonable, you treat them fairly, and get the word out. I wish you the best. And, good thing you aren't in Canada!
I think there's something like that out there. I haven't looked it up, but I remember Two Wheels Big Life talking about staying at a "Bunk-a-Biker" in different areas. Might want to check into that for ideas.
The high cost of hotels & motels is a barrier for me taking multi-day long trips on a motorcycle. But with a car/ truck /SUV, I know I can always nap in the vehicle. I drive an SUV.

But on a bike I think it's much more important to get plenty of rest and not drive so much at night.

I'd only be interested if the price were about half of the going rate for an inexpensive motel which I have not priced in years but I assume that somewhere around $70 U.S.D.
In the areas I travel descent overnight lodging runs $150 up. The under $100 places usually are located in higher risk areas especially for unattended bikes!

I wouldn't be able to afford to travel if I had to spend that much on lodging every night. When a motorcycle campground isn't an option, I tend to favor Super 8's and a disc lock. (y)

That is why I would favor sharing a home with secure bike parking and a place for tents or rooms along with possible meals on-site. Some of the cheaper motels I have stayed in in the past would allow parking in the lobby area which is well lighted. Sometimes I preferred to park in the back, out of sight out of mind type of thing. Anyway, I think he has a great idea and should pursue, the worst is he will fail and figure out why and fix it.

For single guys or a couple guys travelling together, it would be something I would look at. If I was with my wife, I would know better than even ask her.

I agree, it sounds like a great idea if the details can be worked out. (y)
