Low top speed

Hello all, first forum post was wondering if someone had a answer for my question.

I recently bought a new gsx s750 yesterday I was in 6 gear and it was only going to 210. I spoke to my friend he said to try in 5th, so today comes my back from work I was in 5th throttle fully open but again seemed to just stay at 210. I have seen a video on YouTube and it goes past 210 in 5 gear no problem.

It is completely standard apart from a yoshimura slip on.

Any ideas? And thanks for any help!

I'm just a little confused by the question. Sorry. This 210 thing, what is that? RPM's perhaps and you meant 2100rpm's? If not could someone translate for me. It certainly be 210mph I don't think. There are several things that could make the RPM's stall out. So if you are referring to RPM's then you will need to give the guys here more info. What engine enhancements if any and what have you recently done to it if anything.
Thanks for the reply, it is 210 kmh not mph. It’s about the slow top speed, it should be 235-240

The bikes brand new only thing that isn’t stock is slip on
Is it getting to redline at that speed? What is the rpm? is the rev limiter kicking in?
Hi. I got it up to 235 I just had to really tuck in, it’s a naked bike so must have just been drag. That wasn’t redline so has a little more

Thanks for the replies

That's no way to treat a brand new bike. Some brands like the BMW S1000RR have a "running-in RPM limiter" that is removed at the 600-mile maintenance.

Break in was first 800km limited to 6500rpm then 8500 rpm to 1600. I just got to 1600 yesterday so that’s the reason I took it up ?

So since 210 km/hr = 130 mph, then you are sad that it only goes 130 mph? Where are you riding that thing?

That's a first world problem if I've ever seen one. xD

The cafe racer'd bits may also have screwed with the aero, too.
it wasn’t that I was sad it was only hiting 210 lol, it’s just that it should top out at 235 so was wondering why it wasn’t.

Like I said I had to really tuck down and in then it hit that number so all good, as it’s a naked I must be causing a good bit of drag.

Riding it on the roads here is Europe ?
You were asked about the revs attained. No reply. You are trying to set a new land speed record but do not know about drag.

You should be able to get maximum revs in all gears, except possibly 5th and 6th, if it is a six speed. Reason is wind drag increases a lot at around 140 kph. Anything over that and there is lots of drag. If naked as you stated, you will need to tuck in. You will also need to wear gear that does not flap in the wind.

This is why a moto3 bike has a faster top speed than you.
