looking to Buy a bike....

I was looking to buy a bike next month but i am having troubles on figuring out which one i want. I was looking at the Ducati Monster 800 and the Buell lighting cityx XB9SX. I am going to be riding out on the weekends, maybe some commuting and probably some track riding in a couple of months. Between the two, how do they compare riding, maintence, and overall performance? Can anyone throw me some input please?
