I was looking for used bikes and I came across a Kawasaki 2003 ZX12R. It had an elongated swing arm. I think it looks pretty cool actually. Can anyone tell me the purpose of a longer swing arm?

I have seen long swing arms on hill climbers, and drag racers....other than that maybe it was just for show? I don't know for sure.

To keep the bike on the ground from the start, so they won't wheelie.

In my neck of the woods swing arm's are extended for drag racing purposes. If I were looking for a "new" bike, I wouldn't give a second look at anything that had that mod. I know how the drag racers around here treat thier bikes. They are rode hard and put up wet. My $0.02

yeah, i would have to agree... buying a stretched bike unless its a show bike almost assures it's been abused... bedides that it makes em handle like s##t .
