Hi, just had my bike in for a repair job and have been told that the air flow is being restricted due to a custom lowered seat, if the air filter is removed the bike runs superbly, anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

Put a factory seat back on?

Thanks, the frame has been modified at the rear end and so the original seat will no longer fit, the new seat restricts the air flow into the top of the air box, I am thinking maybe remove the air box and add K&N filters directly to the carbs or drill holes and cover with mesh to improve air flow into the original box?

Yeah, seems like you're going to have to open up the airflow somehow. Of course, that may let in a little more dirt and might cause some accelerated engine wear, but it's a 36 year old Kawasaki. It's not like you're planning on riding it for 500,000 miles. As long as you keep out as much as you can you'll be fine.
